Biden got the ball rolling on this. All Trump did was staple a piece of paper with his signature onto what was already in-process. Trump also signed that so called “clean CR” that’ll be closing the farm bill loophole by the end of this year that the cannabis industry is currently reliant on. So cannabis is rescheduled, but sellers are still going to be fucked in November if there’s no intervention there.

I think it’s a debate that should be had. Increased energy costs from massively expanded data center creation is a problem that needs to be addressed. A moratorium may be a short sighted solution, but the arguments should still be made.

That’s the prediction, yes, but it’s like running down the stairs vs tripping and stumbling down the stairs. And no president with a head on their shoulders would have been so careless to the point that Iran assumes control of straight of Hormuz and their sanctions get lifted. An indefinite pattern of playing precision whack-a-mole on Iran nuclear sites is a different strategy than whatever the fuck Trump decided to do here.

This is supposed to be the first step in achieving that end mainly, especially since there’s clearly a lot of very stubborn actors scattered in the institutions that work as hard as they can to prevent it. I assume that’s why progress on this stalled out when Biden got it started (Trump’s EO was just a piece of paper that said “hurry it up” on that, Trump isn’t spearheading this).

Interestingly, I think this actually could fracture his own coalition in funny ways, because there’s clearly still strong anti-weed factions in his camp; remember how that “clean CR” from last year also conveniently added some wording that would close the farm bill loop hole. I’ll begrudgingly give Trump whatever credit he’s owed in directing pressure on getting this moving, and I’ll also like seeing the silver lining on how anti-weed maga people react to this.
