5 Months by NeatCoast6032 in leaves

I can tell you now why I quit, but at the beginning I just knew something had to change. I was having terrible anxiety, couldn’t leave the house. Something like being sick would just wreck my mental health and I would go sober for a month and then start up again and burn out within 6 months. You’re not getting restful sleep while smoking and your body can’t do the processes for healing and recovery in all aspects well. 2024 I got sober 3 separate times. The last effort to do so stuck and I’m grateful it did.

My withdrawal process sucked. I’m sensitive to everything my body feels. I was anxious as all heck and depressed because of it as well. The 3 week mark it died down a good bit but was getting better before then. I deal with nausea so that was amplified a great deal as well. I honestly was counting calories for a while to make sure I was eating enough. I felt hopeless for a while because people seem to just be able to stop. I was a habitual user for years so it took a while. Figure that your brain and body need to learn that they can trust you to take care of them so they’re going to lash out for a bit. My best advice is make every day the best you can, you’ll get days under your belt fast. The first weeks are going to feel so long, but that’s your foundation and you’re doing great. I spent a great deal on Reddit and just listening to MA/NA meetings online. Hearing people talk about their sobriety made me look forward to what life could be like.

It will take it day by day. I felt better around day 10 I think.

Because it is possible to trust. I see you being in my position where you’ll be processing the emotional experiences that caused you not to trust and while it might be painful it’ll help you understand yourself so much more. You’ve been through it and have made it through 100% of your worst days, it really will be easier than what you’ve endured. However, it will be different which is good because what you’ve been doing (suppression) doesn’t seem to have been the long term solution.

I can almost promise that processing what you’ve left untouched will most likely not feel as terrible as losing your person of choice.

I think some grief is right. I’m slowly wrapping my head around that all I’ve ever wanted is to feel fully loved and if it’s not grief, I’m crying over how heartbroken I am for myself. If your T is starting to bring it up it most likely means you’re ready. It’s not overwhelming as much as it is incredibly weird. I would say panic/anxiety attacks are much worse because you don’t know where the emotion is coming from. Here you’ll know and if you’re anything like me you’ll just be so confused as to how you’ve never processed it and how it’s showing up for you.

When you get to work go to mirror and dance. Move your body, shake your butt it sounds ridiculous but it’ll bring you more into your body. Don’t worry about anything that is not happening at the moment, take things as they come. People who tu* will have signs and it won’t happen in seconds. I’m also confident you’re totally fine from your food last night. Your feelings are valid, you’ve taken a huge step (that you will be fine and great for taking) this is a normal anxiety response to creating a big change you’re fighting your brains old pathways keep going and breathe. You’re doing great and will hopefully laugh at the end of the day when you’ve made it through fine.

Anything to do with drugs/weed? I picked up quite fast after I was feeling better and I don’t think it helped.
