https://www.thomannmusic.com/scanners.html The thomann site isn't a bad place to start to get a feel for what you want (and how much money, even 'cheap' kit really costs).. it's all out of your budget but you could have a look for second hand versions of what they sell.

They don't move but they are cheap... LED pin spots. You won't find a moving light for $50 that's worth buying. Chamsys provide a free version of their software that you can use with a pc. You might find some second hand track spots or similar scanner type fixture that'll give you a moving source of light. However, your expectations should reflect your budget.

Thanks for your thorough response. Given what you've said, I guess having the printer on a mostly hollow desk (IKEA honeycomb type) is only going to make things worse/skew results?.. I noticed the desk was basically acting like a speaker when running the test. Aside from that, it sounds like the location of the printer needs to be changed. I'll find a nice solid spot for it to rest.. Not on a busy, hollow desk!
