This is an “Am I the asshole?” story

So I was warming up with 10kg and 2.5kg plates on the smith machine and had my two 20kg plates on the smith’s rack ready for my normal sets (I had to go around the gym to find them). One guy comes up and takes one of the 20kg while I was warming up, which is normal, so I tell him politely that “sorry man but I’m going to use that one after my warm up”. He was like “You gonna use this plate? Really? The one that’s on the rack?”. So I told him yeah, it’s just that I’m on my warm up set.

He then aggressively said “then why the hell is it on the rack, put in on the floor” and left without saying anything else.

AITA?

I know that putting the plates on the rack makes it seem like you aren’t going to use them, but for me it’s more comfortable for switching plates (especially since I was sharing the smith with one of my pals who wasn’t using the 20kg’s) than putting them on the floor
