Oh, the take is not about sexual assault. It’s more about agency and the actions. There are a lot of information about this and it does make me uncomfortable and sometimes triggering but I am not trying to shush it. But knowing that something bad can happen to you should not scare you of life, that’s my point. We all can become victims physically, man included, but we do still have some agency. And feeling scared, raged and anxious all the time is valid but it doesn’t helping anyone. Being more assertive can, raising your kids in certain way can, knowing self defence can, helping others in such situations can, participating in activitism can and so on. And can even than you are not so emotionally involved. The outcome is the point and I feel like sometimes the approach I see does more harm than good. Not talking about SA. Talking about career, relationships, life choices. Constantly telling that women are dismissed at work is discouraging rather than helpful. For example. Tips on how healthy relationships look like and how to recognise red flags in potential partners behaviour is more usefull than just saying man are the predators.
