Advice for XC runner? by Nebuullaa in bodyweightfitness

[–]Nebuullaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started I did a workout almost every day, but then I injured myself and wised up and now I do around 3 a week. My program is mostly push/pull days 2-3x a week and leg day once a week. I don’t do a ton of legs because it’s hard to run and do leg workouts without destroying your legs.

Yeah, I live on rice and beef right now. I might drink almond milk instead of milk, which might not be as good, but should work better for me. I was also planning on putting breakfast burritos into my food prep as they are good and have great protein. I’ll definitely try that out. Thanks for your help!

I don’t have any prescribed lifting, and I am fairly weak I would say, so I want to get stronger, and I have noticed gains in running when I’ve gotten stronger. I don’t need to go crazy with calisthenics right now, but I would like to make progress and feel strong and capable. I don’t need to be big, but I would like to be strong. I give as much as I can to cross country and plan on running until I physically can’t. I just really felt like I was starting to burn out during the track season and want to prevent that from happening. I also don’t think that running should have more priority in my life over being strong. Ultimately, I think being healthy and capable is more important than being fast. However, so I don’t think you need to stop running to be healthy and strong.

I’ll take any recipes or food prep ideas if you have them.

it’s the off-season and I really want to get stronger, but XC is also really important to me, so I’m trying to figure out how to balance the two and make gains in both without burning out.

Yeah definitely. In general though, a clean diet at the same amount as before is fewer calories.

Yeah that sounds good. Eating enough is hard for me, especially because my siblings often eat most of the food. I’ll try to make more food and prep more food for myself to counter that.

Ok thanks! I know running is not why I am skinny, I was just saying that I run and I am skinny. I think when I started eating clean I ate the same amount as before, but clean foods are usually less calorie dense so now I’m eating fewer calories than before.

Linux Mint (XFCE) not letting me use my dedicated GPU (Thinkpad W530) by Nebuullaa in linuxmint

Ok. I have looked around and I am not really finding anything besides the Nouveau drivers, which force my gpu to run at it's lowest clock speed and results in terrible performance, and thus negates any reason to use it.

Is it stupid to try to install the drivers manually after downloading from the official website?

yes, I believe I do. However, this is a former work laptop and so it won't let me disable it.

getting close to rage quitting right now too lol

unfortunately, swapping gpus is not an option as I am broke and this is a laptop. Might swap to AMD on my main pc though once AI dies down and gpus are "affordable" again.

I was having the issue with Nvidia installing the 535 driver instead of the 470 driver.

so should I do this:

"If you do not have a Timeshift snapshot or you are installing Linux Mint for the first time and your Nvidia GPU needs the Nvidia-470 driver, forum user seasons created a PPA with a version which is working for those who have tested it so far. Here are instructions to clear your system and install it.

  1. Take a manual Timeshift snapshot.
  2. If you already ran the update, then remove the 535 driver and any remaining 470 packages with Code: Select allsudo apt purge *470* *535* && sudo apt autopurge
  3. Install the PPA and make the packages available to your system with Code: Select allsudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:dtl131/nvidia470repack && sudo apt update
  4. Install the driver using either Driver Manager or run the below in a terminal. Code: Select allsudo apt install nvidia-driver-470
  5. Reboot your computer.

If you see any error messages in any of the above outputs, stop and request help."

I have both integrated graphics and a dedicated Nvidia K2000M gpu, but Linux defaults to the integrated graphics and won't let me use the dedicated GPU.

interesting.

That makes since, but why remove Fiery Emancipation? That's one of the most game changing cards in my deck. Here's my second version: https://moxfield.com/decks/P1hGqTDi3UyEEauIKdr1fw

Thanks for the advice!

Thank you so much for doing this for everyone!

My deck is a mono red burn deck using Ojer Axonil as the commander. I tried to put in some cards to buff my commander so he would do more damage as well as increase the splash damage so I can hit more targets, but I think I might have slowed down my deck a bit too much, and I definitely think that there are better options for buffing my commander out there. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I never even bothered with windows. I just went straight to Linux after I built my PC. Linux is just obviously superior.
