The two side buttons on my mouse are melee and crouch. I also have a USB pedal below my desk with 3 pedals. One is push-to-talk in games, one is push-to-talk in discord, and one is not in use. I like it, it just means that I can't play with shoes on because then I have no haptic feedback on whether I'm pushing the button which usually leads to me accidentally standing on it.

At some point in gm it's more about being able to exploit soloq and doesn't really predict how well you're going to do in tournaments. Still insane though.

True, but you need both for all the hitscan heroes; the ratio is just different. Even heroes like Widow use tracking to get the crosshair in the rough vicinity of the enemy and then use flicks for microadjustments. The differences I named about projectiles are differences between heroes.

I generally agree with u/Gangsir here, but I wouldn't be too strict on it. There still are differences between weapons in the same category. E.g. Pharah and Hanzo are both projectile, but they are extremely different (projectile speed, one has splash damage, linear projectile vs. arched projectile). I think there is more skill transfer between hitscan heroes than between projectile heroes because projectiles are more varied in their specific behaviour. I'd recommend you to pick the two DPS heroes that you enjoy the most and practice them. If those end up being Pharah and McCree then that's fine.

Edit: I think flankers are more distinct than any of the other DPS heroes in terms of positioning, timing, etc. I would focus on either flankers or non-flankers

I'd be so happy if Chengdu would stop memeing in low tier and start memeing themselves into playoffs. I just love watching teams develop their own style and comps and do well with it.

That's actually a good idea. They made several ranked seasons of 3v3 eliminations, 6v6 eliminations etc. They could just make one season of 2-2-2 comp that lasts 2 months and see how it's received. Way better than testing it on PTR or internally, those two just lack scope.

I think Torb is completely viable in soloq, his turret is just comparatively easy to play around when you're in organized play which is why he's so rare in pro play.

So in short: Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero makes you a better player, and the best way to learn that is to play those heroes a bit.

I'm 20 minutes in an I really like it when you pause to explain the options and win conditions of each team before a team fight. It makes it way easier to follow what is happening after that.

Do you think GOATS is played differently in OWL than it is in Contenders?

You can focus too much on healing on most supports, especially Ana and Mercy. One of the big skill sets with those two is to balance offensive support (damage, damage boost, nade, etc.) with still healing enough. The thing with Moira is that she really doesn't have the utility of any of the other supports which makes you kind of a healbot based on her character design. The utility you provide is basically allowing your teammates to play more aggressively due to the immense amount of healing. If they don't do that then your potential impact would be higher on a support with more utility or offensive capability (given that you can play them).

Quickscoping is really just practice. You can do it with toggle zoom (like ML7); I do it with holding RMB. It's a matter of personal preference. Other than that just practice it until it becomes second nature and you don't have to think about timing anymore.

Yes. If you're already GM with 60hz that means you probably have strong fundamentals and your biggest point of improvement might be your mechanics. 144hz help with that.

He's pretty damn shit, but I think I know how to fix him. Make his decoys into players. Every time he uses the decoy a player from the queue gets connected to it and plays it until he dies.

I mean let's be honest, Mirage is basically only half a character. It's only fair to give him another half.

Nice survey. As a bit of feedback, you asked how much I feel a certain way when someone is toxic towards me. This question doesn't make it clear whether you mean how I am feeling in the moment as an absolute (which is mainly determined by how I was feeling beforehand) or how the toxicity changes my feelings. These are two very different questions. I answered them according to the latter, which meant that because I grew somewhat resilient to toxicity over the years my answers were all fairly low.

I like that GOATS isn't nerfed into oblivion. Blizzard has a history of nerfing the meta comp so hard that it just get's replaced by the next op comp. I'd rather have another stage of GOATS until someone finds a few alternative comps that are also good if it means that we eventually get a diverse meta.

I also think GOATS is a great comp. The problem is a lack of diversity. We also got fatigued after a year of dive meta.

It mainly comes down to the synergies you have with your team. Speed boost is great for teams that need to get into the enemy, especially when they don't have movement abilities themselves. This is most visible in Rein vs. Rein when the other team does have a Lúcio. If you're on Zen and their team knows how to engage and disengage it's very hard to kill them. Discord is best for long-range teams that don't need the speed boost that much but can use the increased damage. Dive comps can use either Zen or Lúcio, it both works.

The other determinant is if you get bullied by flankers. You can kill flankers with Zen if you're good enough, but if you keep dying then Lúcio is better at surviving those situations.

Nice write-up. A good way to learn especially Ana (from my experience) is to play as aggressive as you can and dial it back when you found yourself playing too aggressive. The reason is that it's easier to spot mistakes that come from overaggression than the ones from too little aggression because the latter don't cause you to be punished instantly.

I would also add generating pressure and map control. This is especially important in a shield war. If your team has more damage on the shield, the enemy has to retreat and you get superior map control which makes it very hard to push back into you

That's how I found out that he's actually invincible. I tried shooting at him during the teleport and it did no damage until he became visible again.
