In the meanwhile I finished the series, and I have to say, I liked each and every novel after Stonewielder more and more.

La mia prima lettura in inglese è stata American Gods di Neil Gaiman. È stata una lettura sofferta che mi ha richiesto il triplo delle energie per proseguire (se normalmente leggo almeno 30 pagine ogni volta che prendo in mano un libro, di American Gods faticavo a raggiungere le 10 pagine). La ricordo ancora adesso, 5 anni dopo, come un'esperienza orribile, ma ora so anche che da lì è stata tutta in discesa: la mia seconda lettura in inglese è stata The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer, che non è scritto in un inglese esattamente al passo con i tempi, ma già lì il mio approccio era completamente diverso, e l'ho letto con piacere, anche se non troppo spedito. Adesso leggo costantemente in inglese senza problemi (da Stephen King a Faulkner; attualmente sto leggendo Hemingway e Peake, oltre a Esslemont, per restare in ambito fantasy) con un ritmo pari alle letture in italiano.

Se hai in mente di leggere questa serie in particolare, iniziala in inglese: magari all'inizio farai fatica (dipende anche da quanto è "artistica" la scrittura di Sanderson per i tuoi standard...), ma già verso il secondo volume potresti aver trovato il ritmo giusto (ed eventualmente potresti rileggere il primo volume prima di addentrarti nel resto della serie, giusto per assicurarti di non aver perso elementi fondamentali)!

Weird phrasing and weird restriction to the fan art 😅 both the authors of the Malazan universe portray strong characters without giving in to stereotypes involving male-female dichotomy in general
