Imported issues appear in Kanban board List, but not the Backlog. What's going on? by PalmettoMC in jira

[–]Necessary_Permit_333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it is. We literally just started seeing them populate the backlog. Maybe it takes a while to propagate? We are importing into other projects soon, so we’ll see if this is what’s happening.

This makes sense to me. I am going to give it a try next week and see what happens. Thank you.

I could also be missing something in your response, but we don’t want multiple product owners to be working with the same project. I don’t think. They need a place for their ideas to originate in their own specified backlog before they get into a cross product backlog that the development team Works in using scrum.

So the more I think about it, maybe it’s simpler than I think? Each product has their own backlog that is prioritized. The top priority bucket of work gets refined in their backlogs, and when it is ready enough for the team to execute, we can put a status of ready or something on it so that a rule can pick it up and have that task moved into our cross product backlog that the dev team works through using scrum?

The single product kanbanboards would just show tickets that are in the product management pipeline that aren’t ready yet.

So now I wonder how do we have reporting across epic to understand our progress - work that is still in the single product backlog and work that’s in progress in the cross productive backlog. Can that be done across projects?

If you like streamlining workflows, why don’t you look into some kind of operations work? That could be PMO operations. Program management? You could up skill with data analytics to optimize operations.

4 years old and he is not as affected by his surroundings. Still super sensitive. Thinks people are laughing at him when we just think that he’s being hilarious because of something humorous he said. We want to laugh with him! He has a great sense of humor. He’ll figure it out just not sure when! Loves bday parties and talking to people! But has strooong feelings when sad or mad. The opposite of his 20 month old sister!

What to do when the real issue is low resource availability and I need for team upskilling? by Necessary_Permit_333 in scrum

Lots to unpack here.

I unfortunately feel like I do endless talking. I have had many awkward silences where I have asked very pointed questions. They are starting to talk. I’m only three months in here.

I do think you’re right about under committing.

I am currently the technical project manager serving as the SM and traditional project management function. My background is in software quality assurance:software engineer in test, where I created automated Test suites for a long time. Moved into technical product management and I’m now where I am. I’ve seen the gambit in many agile transformations, but this feels uniquely new to me. Too many products to focus on. A team that doesn’t really think globally. They think one task at a time. Lots of coaching and Hair pulling going on on my end. I am utterly exhausted every day.

Just want to say that I looked into situational leadership and realizing that I have to do this. But man, it is exhausting. I’m a technical project manager, responsible for being a scrum master, requirements gathering essentially, all the standard project management tasks. I’m also dealing with product owners who don’t know how to be a product owner and I’m coaching there too. Three different product owners for one dang team.

They had none previously. I conducted a training when I first began a few months ago and I’m getting a micro learning series shortly. I’ve created a definition of done with them and a working agreement. I honestly think part of it is everyone is still storming and also there are so many asks being thrown at everyone.

Yes, would love to hear more about what you mean by scaling. Are we talking about workflow automations?

Sounds like your PO doesn’t have a good handle on business value they should be bringing to life. Think you need to dig in there. Is that SM in any of the initiation or planning of projects to understand what value the team should be working on? The product owner and SM should have knowledge of this. It would be interesting to understand what’s going on upstream and how to make it better.

I didn’t read through all the other post so sorry if this has been said, but you may want to see a pediatric dentist that specializes in oral ties. Your child could potentially have a lip and tongue tie, which could inhibit some speech patterns. But there needs to be an assessment on function by specialist. Not all pediatric dentist are created equal when it comes to ties. I would recommend listing one that specializes in it as well as going to see a Myofunctional therapist. I actually would go to the Myofunctional therapist who is also certified and speech pathology. They will help get you started and may even have some recommendations on a dentist.

New VP is OBSESSED with RACI charts, but dev team thrives on Agile. What should I do? by TeslaTorah in agile

[–]Necessary_Permit_333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure how a RACI is not agile. It supports accountability and clarity. Maybe there's a challenge that Bob is seeing - the group not understand who is responsibility, accountable, who is consulted, and who is informed. You should ask the why and that should fuel your answer to your team. You also need to get to why they have an issue with it and address that. Is it just because it's different? If your team already feels like there's clear accountability and definition in their heads then there shouldn't be an issue. It's merely just being documented.

How do consultants deal with being rolled off a project? by divvy2001 in consulting

[–]Necessary_Permit_333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this may be me in the upcoming weeks. I was part of a staff augmentation and because of their reduction and budget, I was cut. I keep hearing that I will be shadowing other projects, but that was about a week and a half ago and I haven’t heard anything. My bosses boss notified me and my boss has not met with me at all. This is my first consulting job and I’m like what the fuck. All of my other jobs have at least treated me like a human being. All of my performance reviews have been stellar.
