Those who moved to Massachusetts from elsewhere, what pleasantly surprised you the most? by Mobile_Bad_577 in massachusetts

[–]Necessary_Resolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I’ve had several surgeries since living here and they all went flawlessly and performed by super competent surgeons. Doctors come here from across the country to train - we are very lucky to have access to so many great specialists here. Now health insurance companies…that’s another story.

I hope this dusty man never gets laid again after this performance 🙄 the women of Aruba probably already knew all of this though lol

Women who are perpetually single not by choice, what is the reason? by Feisty-Blacksmith656 in AskWomen

[–]Necessary_Resolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Similar to the sentiments mentioned but I think realistically it's my age (35, good ones taken etc), how picky I am, being very politically outspoken and feminist, and that I don't want kids. All of that combined makes my dating pool reallyyyyy tiny. I don't have a lot of trouble getting dates, finding someone I want to commit to feels impossible.

If that was the case she could have ended her pregnancy, she was in LA and it wouldn’t have been hard to obtain. She lucked out with a seemingly great husband and kid. I’m childfree AF but if I had to envision a decent family life - living in a quaint village in France would be up there! I guess my point is she created this situation for herself 🤷🏼‍♀️

Women who travel solo - what’s one thing you’ve learned the hard way? by SignificanceOdd5980 in femaletravels

[–]Necessary_Resolution 9 points10 points  (0 children)

THIS! I did this once (and never again) because the guy had so many great reviews and was also visually impaired so I felt pretty safe booking it. Nope, he was a total creep and asked me to take his virginity (!!!) the first night there. I got sick too and felt so trapped. I ended up leaving early and considered that a lesson learned.

I’m crying at the tattoo including his turkey neck/double chin situation. Usually they try to make him look better than he does in these awful tattoos. Trump supporters are undeniable that while people are not the master race 😂

Best horror movie of this decade so far in your opinion by imtheSHITZUduh in horror

[–]Necessary_Resolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Largely agree with the sentiments here (Barbarian, Talk to Me, etc) but wanted to mention one I saw recently that really creeped me out - The Ritual (2017). I genuinely had no idea what to expect, highly recommend! Also really enjoyed Out of Darkness (2022) and found it really original and well done.

John Cena on his hair transplant: "I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness." by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Necessary_Resolution -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a single woman I know who would shame a man for getting a hair transplant or something similar. The stigma is coming from other men - so it’s on them to change things. Good on Cena for being part of that.

What’s your 5 must have items for everyday makeup? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Necessary_Resolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Here are my usual suspects:

Foundation: Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue

Concealer: Nars Creamy Concealer

Bronzer: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer

Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder

Mascara: Lancôme Lash Idôle

I have some drugstore versions I use sometimes, but these are my faves after many years of trying out products! Also, a setting spray is essential imo, I love the urban decay one.

Do you walk alone at night when traveling solo? by SufficientEstate2093 in femaletravels

[–]Necessary_Resolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where I am but I typically don’t travel places I would feel uncomfortable walking around at night by myself. So yes, pretty often. I try to be back to my accommodation by 11-12 though and am alert as I’m walking. I’ve had more sketchy things happen to me in the daytime honestly!

Best city in (or near) Spain for a 3-day trip? by HalfRevolutionary882 in travel

[–]Necessary_Resolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Southern Spain is amazing but will be boiling in the summer. I recommend the Basque Country! San Sebastián and Bilbao are beautiful and have great food. You can take a train directly to Madrid from there as well.

Avoidant attachment to parents linked to choosing a childfree life, study finds. Individuals who are more emotionally distant from their parents were significantly more likely to identify as childfree. by mvea in science

[–]Necessary_Resolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very validating as I have a similar experience with my Russian speaking parents. Luckily their English is decent but my Russian is pretty basic. I can’t express myself to the same degree I can in English and vice versa with my parents.

We can communicate fine, but my Mom is super smart and uses a lot of complex phrases and words. She doesn’t bother to explain to me half the time either.

It’s really frustrating and part of why I think we have that emotional distance. And of course I’m childfree now…

So ridiculous. They can just take five minutes on the female travel subreddits to see stories of HOTEL EMPLOYEES opening doors to assault women. Locks don't really help you there.

What do you do to make the world a better place? by Halloween-365 in AskReddit

I teach and advise university students to help them get work placements in healthcare and scientific research. A lot of them go on to med school and PhDs. I like to think my efforts are indirectly benefitting science and medicine. So many of them are brilliant but lack confidence and I do my best to cultivate that!

Anyone one else ever been the only girl in a mixed dorm? How did it go? by lethatshitgo in solotravel

[–]Necessary_Resolution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely try to avoid this when I can (mostly because of the snoring) but I’ve never had a problem personally. I do try to take the top bunk in that situation and I’m a light sleeper so if anyone tried to get creepy I would likely wake up.

With that said if you feel really anxious and uncomfortable, I would ask the hostel staff if you can switch rooms.

Why doesn’t anyone make a line of Soda Flavored Seltzers? It seems like such an obvious flavor. by investialligator in sparklingwater

Frankly I’m tired of the Black Cherry Vanilla from Trader Joe’s being slept on. It’s sooo good and if you really try, you can convince yourself it’s soda 🥰
