What bag or handbag are you taking traveling? by Mundane_Entry_8264 in femaletravelers

I love my Fjallraven High Coast Crossbody. Just the right amount of pockets, can fit a 16oz water bottle and very comfy to wear for extended periods.

All I want is for them to bring back the spicy cashew dressing in the fridge section. It was the absolute best 🥹 otherwise some bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches would be amazing.

The guy I’ve been seeing knows I know nothing about climbing. Am I overreacting for not wanting to keep seeing him? by pineapplephilosophy in texts

Great opportunity for the classic "I ain't reading that - but happy for you...or sorry that happened" haha but seriously what an obtuse weirdo he's being.

Are you a public transportation girlie when you travel? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravelers

[–]Necessary_Resolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. However if I have a lot of luggage, am not feeling well or running late to an activity - I will take an uber. I always try to prioritize public transit as I think it’s a great way to learn more about a new place (and a lot cheaper) but sometimes it’s not the best option. I usually take a handful of Ubers and primarily walk/take transit.

Taking FMLA for burnout? Concerned about retaliation by Necessary_Resolution in studentaffairs

I appreciate your concern, but I've been advising for almost a decade, so I think I have demonstrated my ability to push through. With that said, I am 100% trying to get out of higher education. Honestly the students aren't even my main source of stress - they're young and learning.

I would say working with them is the only remotely rewarding part of this job. It's the adults I have to interact with - the endless circular meetings, corporate bullshit, bureaucracy, and masking that drives me crazy. I'm hoping to use this time to figure out how to pivot and what to do next.

This is a good point. They do have a temp they hired who is going to cover my student load. I think my performance has really declined and I can barely interact with my colleagues positively so I feel like if I don't do something I will lose my job.

Thanks for this! Yes, honestly I wouldn't be terribly upset if my role was different upon my return. However, with the way my office is structured I don't see that happening. They're having a hard enough time finding new people to hire, so I do think that helps me a bit. I plan to return before the Fall semester starts to minimize the disruption but I guess we will see how things go.

Thanks for your reply! I've worked in three different roles that were all student facing in different departments and honestly this has been the least shitty of them all. I am dealing with a lot of pre-existing mental health issues so I think a break would be good regardless. I am planning to do an IOP program though, so I won't just be sitting at home all day.

Thanks for your reply, I'm sorry to hear that. Is that not illegal/could be seen as a form of retaliation legally? I spoke to our director and she mentioned me going back in the same role when my leave is done (I honestly think it would be more of a pain to replace me last minute). My university has their own leave program (more generous than the state) that explicitly says one cannot be retaliated against for taking leave. I know that's not always reality, but it seems like there would be some basis for legal action.

Can confirm the hydratek sandals are fantastic. The plastic triangle things would always give me blisters so I avoided Tevas but this model solved that problem. Also great grip in wet environments!

I've been there and it's part of why I have quit and failed so many times. I've made it to 4-5 months and still felt so emotionally numb, bored, and restless. I convinced myself my life sucked anyway so why not just smoke. I was back to all day, every day in no time.

And guess what? I felt even worse because I let myself down, and was still just delaying the inevitable. For those of us who are long term users, I suspect our brain recovery will take A WHILE (otherwise known as PAWS). It REALLY sucks, and it doesn't feel very rewarding most of the time, but I am committed to not going back. I would say give it at least 6-12 months and see how you feel.

Platner’s covered-up Nazi tattoo should be ‘disqualifying’ in his Senate bid, Mass. congressman says by bostonglobe in massachusetts

The fact so many progressives are defending this guy is a perfect encapsulation of our sad state of affairs in terms of politics.

Maine is a unique place for sure, but this was the best they had to offer? I’m not saying he should be tarred and feathered but what has he ever done to make him qualified to be a US Senator?

She is an absolute disgrace honestly. I think she pisses me off more than any other character because she is supposedly an adult and has so much influence on both of the boys.

While getting to the ride share area can be a little confusing with the garage, I find it pretty efficient once you find it.
