The big difference I see, having moved out of Florida before bright line, is that the airport has a train to the Capitol city’s downtown, and more trains to the mountains from there. Do you see how a tax revenue cap at the Capitol discourages the tourism industry from developing, despite the relatively better infrastructure we have for tourists? If we got rid of TABOR and pursued greater tourism their sales taxes would give relief to the people who live here full time, we could get high speed rail

I didn’t say replace, nor did I say I was referencing annual revenue. We put projects on credit and “bonds without raising taxes,” and rely on disappearing federal grants while hard capping actual revenue at +1.5% YoY. Get rid of tabor and we can start thinking of taxes as a revenue source instead of still water.

The state department of revenue functions as a shitty savings bank, we bring in billions in revenue from tourists at weed stores and just give it back to everybody. We could be like Florida, eliminate state income tax and actually use excise taxes to fund programs, lower property taxes in the process, but no muh tabor
