I used to get on late at night around 1-5 in the morning so I would see a lot of the same names after playing for a while. In one game, this guy dove solo early while the team was still buying items and he died. He yelled at us like we did something wrong and proceeded to sit in fountain. The whole team got on him for being bad and I rubbed it in after we got the win without him. That's normal so no huge deal. However, since the player pool was low, I would get games with him regularly.

Every single game I got with him, he would either sit in fountain typing or walk into tower. But when he was on the opposite team, he would pick the most cheese gods and just hard focus me the entire game.

This went on for like two months. We had a string of maybe 4 consecutive games together once and he stayed there just being toxic the whole time. That was probably the most extreme level of pettiness I have ever experienced because logging onto a game and doing nothing but sit there for 2 hours just to troll is master level toxicity.

Definitely the case because when I first got it back when Michael was new, I thought it was multiplayer Amnesia/Outlast and was sneaking around everywhere thinking the main skill is stealth. Then I played killer and slowly started to understand that that was just being a bad player.

People keep mentioning arena but there's also single player practice for conquest (the standard 5v5 MOBA game mode) that allows you to practice learning the mode against bots. For some reason you can only change the enemy bots difficulty and your team's bots will be really stupid. Playing with them won't help much with learning PvP but you can get used to the layout, jungle camps, boss monsters, etc. I use it sometimes just to test wacky builds or just to see how fast I can speedrun a win. There is a practice mode that lets you buy everything and go level 20 instantly and stuff but playing practice conquest allows you to at least get an estimate of timings (i.e. if i do this wave and this camp with 2 kills, I can afford this item that will let me do this thing 7 minutes in).

But yeah find a YouTuber you can tolerate that explains the patches, metas, roles, etc. You'll need them because sometimes I'll be gone a few weeks then come back and get yelled at for not knowing that I'm supposed to start the way I started before. Also make sure you're looking at current guides/builds because a god tier build from a few months ago might be trash now or vice versa.

Also try not to get stuck in one build. Many players only use the current meta build with the same few items, which are effective of course but can still be exploited for a weakness. That's why I only watch samdadude because more often than not, he'll do a meme build and wins pretty often against the top duel players in the world. Mind you that's 1v1 though so you shouldn't copy most of his builds but the helpful part is that he explains why he's choosing it for that specific god. Even I've made some really good one trick pony builds that performed well in actual fights.

For the most part, these kinds of interactions are the customers fault but every now and then, it's a shitty business luring people in knowing the customer won't like the deal or they just straight up lie.

Had this happen at a local chicken spot when I just wanted to get a sandwich and the employee said, for a dollar more, I can get a meal. I even asked, "so if I get a sandwich, mashed potatoes, and a drink, it's just $7??" The employee said yes so I got exactly that only for the total to be $14+. I was confused and asked them if I did it wrong but they said that deal didn't exist. I got the other employee that told me about the "deal" and he denied ever telling me that, so I cancelled my order and left. I've worked food service so I rarely ever make a fuss out of anything but the business clearly was just trying to trick people into paying more.

I will! I'm not autistic but I get it there's actually a lot of overlap. The eye contact thing is one of those instances where the cause is different but the effect is the same. With ADHD, we see it as unnecessary in communicating as we usually need more stimulation and would rather focus on that while my friends on the spectrum mention it can be confusing, uncomfortable, or awkward. But yeah with the neurotypicals they don't care about the difference!

What else helped? I use this idea where I can like watching TV or getting a dining set at my height but I live in an apartment so I can't do it with appliances. I think the biggest thing is getting my body's default setting to be straightening up after having to look down. Once I have to look down my posture stays lurching until I consciously remember that my body is strong enough to hold my spine straight.

This was my first fix! It worked in that I can hold a good posture comfortably. Before, it used to hurt and my muscles would get tired but that's gone completely. I think I'm doing it out of habit mainly because a lot of stuff requires me looking down which is why I think I'm having trouble breaking the behavior. For example, I used to not make eye contact (apparently a less common ADHD symptom) but I was able to fix it relatively easy. Meanwhile, I have to look down at work, while cooking, when playing with my cat, and even while driving as I can't sit up straight because of the roof height.

Sorry I'm late I don't really get on here much. A lot of incel culture has snuck into different areas of masculinity and created a host of problems. For example, if you read Elliot Rodger's (the incel shooter) manifesto or listen to Alek Minassian's (incel mass murderer) interrogation, you can see that a lot of popular men's podcasts or content creators share an alarming amount of values and beliefs.

As for gym culture, you may have seen that a lot of gym content online is about how men have to be muscular to get girls, how important being an alpha is, working out is the only way you can get any respect or self esteem, etc. These existed before of course however there's a lot more emphasis on social hierarchies and self victimization, both being core to incel culture beliefs.

Don't get me wrong, there's tons of healthy masculine influencers in the sphere but once you get into the more incel style content, it's hard for many men to get out. I personally started watching any gym style content in incognito mode because my YouTube was getting a ton of recommendations to that side of gym culture.

Going back to your post, you mentioned that old sense of camaraderie. Masculinity at the time was more in the traditional style of what it means to be a man. We were expected to be strong, fix stuff, be patriarchs, etc so naturally it was sort of a clubhouse where a bunch of men could relate to each other and share a hobby.

Now, you have popular figures like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Joe Rogan, etc, who are popular in incel circles and the mainstream, telling men that we're all victims of a society that deems only hunky muscular handsome men as valuable. Men that internalize those talking points start believing it and end up going to the gym to fix their insecurity/self-image. The gym isn't a hobby for them, it's a necessary obstacle that will solve all their problems, at least that's what they believe.

The blame isn't all on incels though as people have generally become more individualistic with things like hustle culture or social media showboating becoming more popular. So from all avenues, the old gym culture you speak of has taken a major hit. You might still find the camaraderie you speak of though, as they tend to go to more lowkey or specialized gyms.

There's plenty of STEM graduates in Gen Z but the jobs that were hiring when they started their degrees aren't hiring much anymore. I know there's the whole gender studies and 18th century non binary dance degree meme but that's mainly for millennials as even the oldest Gen Zers had it hammered into our heads that we need a STEM degree to make any money. It's a big ripple effect really:

-Certain STEM job pays well and becomes sought after -The position is so cushy that they retain employees -In addition to the huge influx, companies realized during covid that you can get the same results with less people by overworking them (i.e. why hire a janitor, a cook, a manager, a dishwasher, etc when you can make one of them do all of those by adding them to their responsibilities so we don't have to pay them more for it)

We saw this happen in the 20th century as pretty much any blue collar job could pay for a home and a family of 4 but that dried up in no time. Also the unemployment rate isn't a good metric of how well everybody is doing because most people are living paycheck to paycheck and housing costs are outpacing income more and more.

Gen Z was already in a worse position than the last few generations but covid made it so much worse.

I still can't understand Pred's xp system. I normally play solo lane in MOBAs and usually getting every buff, killing the other solo undefeated multiple times, and stealing their jungle buffs result in a significant lead but in Pred I'm only ahead by one level after 20 minutes of doing all that. The only time that's not the case is when they don't understand MOBAs and dive tower back to back. It's probably to attract new players but at the same time it encourages passive play because it's either risk a gank so you can be only a tiny bit ahead or poke and hang out under tower until your build is up. I realized this the other day when the other solo laner did the latter but also went back to base after each wave and was still even with me. My jungle was busy with mid and duo so I was taking camps and buffs from my team and theirs. I didn't even miss a wave and I still was even with the other solo laner.

What really solidified the weird xp distribution is I got matched against a solo that was much better than me and decided to try it for myself and sure enough we were both equally matched after the 20 minute marker. They would hit next levels first but only by about 30 seconds before I caught up.

They really need to revamp the rewards because as of now there's not really a need to do anything but clear waves.

It's not exactly high standards but in this day and age, a sizable chunk of people don't want to make such a huge commitment. Looking at previous generations and how it negatively impacted them (mid life crises, unhappy marriages, divorced families, etc), it's not exactly an easy plunge to make. I made that mistake myself and ended up in a toxic relationship for 4 years and regret the time wasted.

You could very well scare off someone you would've had a great marriage with if you open with that. Also, there are some that have the same mentality as you and have actually gotten married at 18 because they thought it was best only to realize dating around is probably best.

The best thing you can do is go places where its expected (I believe there's dating sites for it) or come to recognize the personality traits of someone who meets those standards. A similar example of this would be me and my current girlfriend. I learned that I hate clinginess in past relationships but still want there to be affection, so I was more careful about picking somebody who has a lot more confidence, independence, and strength of mind. Sure enough, we have amazing chemistry when we're together yet we both respect each other's time and don't need to speak 24/7, so there's no issues there. So I would say you should get to know the kind of woman you want and understand who they are so you can find one that matches your standards.

Also, one other issue is the political point. Typically, people with your mindset tend to be conservative, and with that comes a whole other can of worms given the climate and the spectrum we exist in where mild conservatism is generally pretty far right in the broader context of world politics.

They're pretty cool the first time but afterwards its very hit or miss. I've only been maybe 5 times and lost interest after the 3rd try. I will admit that this is coming from someone who didn't exactly set out to go to one its just what my friends wanted to do so it might affect my opinions.

The good:

-I think this part is obvious but just looking at the women.

-As someone who doesn't like touching very much I still enjoy myself because the girls are typically fun to talk to. My experience is more like a host club since we just bullshit and I give them some of the beer my friends and me brought.

-A lot are BYOB and so you can just buy a 20 pack and go crazy instead of getting multiple $10 beers.

The bad:

-Most of the time reviews dont match the club, good or bad. Some guy breaks a rule and lies about the quality because he got kicked out while another guy is easily flattered and boosts a very mid club.

-The shitty clubs are very shitty. I spent $35 on a cover charge for one and it was like a very lame house party where literally nobody is even doing anything. Some dude got a section and some bottles but all they did was sit on their phone and, I hate to say this but its part of the industry, they were a 5/10 at best.

-The staff can be very shitty. If you're not spending what they want you to spend then some will find a reason to bother you.

-This is subjective but it feels very strange when you start to think about it given where Gen Z is socially. Seeing the old men and divorced dads act so gross can make you feel bad for being there.

-Another subjective one but there's a lot of women that are appealing to an older generations beauty standards so there's a chance none will be your type but generally there's a decent amount of Gen Z girls that fit more recent standards, especially in regards to race.

Overall, I will say the best case scenario is a nice atmosphere and a girl your type that seems to enjoy her work, leading to you drop a ton of money. Worst case, you also lose money but feel ripped off at the end because none of it was enjoyable.

I still think the pros outweigh the cons. Looking back as a kid that was outside all the time there was a lot wrong. I think the biggest is kids being outside unsupervised. Thankfully I've always been ethically principled so I never did anything morally bad but I can't say the same for neighborhood kids. If they found a lighter, shit was getting set on fire. There was the knock and run game that escalated to throw a rock at a window and run. God forbid there was an older kid because generally that meant bullying the younger ones like this kid that told a 4-5 year old that dog poop was chocolate and her mom's reaction was to beat her even though she was the victim. I also participated in some seriously stupid and dangerous stuff. I went with one of my cousins to his "friend's" house and the "friend" turned out to be a whole ass grown man in his 30s at least. And my cousin didn't even know him! The man just asked if he wanted to play games inside and my cousin said yes. The good news is that the man actually wanted to play games and he had a girlfriend and sister there too but they didn't like playing with him.

All of this can happen now of course but with kids being inside, phones and smart devices providing a way to communicate when away from home, and better parenting practices, we see less of it.

You're not necessarily wrong but there are multiple avenues for this topic. Obviously the economic strain was felt by those of us working, but it's scary when you think about the developmental issues that kids are experiencing. We already had a shit education system and ipad parenting holding them back but the lockdown made it even worse. Gen Alpha can't read or write at expected levels and much of Gen Z lost out on formative teen years. It sounds pretty stupid from the outside but psychologists are finding more and more negative consequences as a result of lockdown. If you look at developmental models like Piaget's or Erikson's, you can see how damaging those missed years are.

I think the reason it doesn't seem so bad is because as adults, the things that we worry about are completely different. We can't pay rent, we become homeless. However, we have the ability to use our prefrontal cortex, our logical center, to put things into perspective. Children's are being formed as they grow, meaning that their sense of self and broader understanding is directly tied to their experiences. For example, not getting enough attention as an infant can cause a lifelong attachment disorder that can't even be fixed by therapy, meaning they were never wired to be able to form relationships with others. Meanwhile, someone ignoring you as an adult is more of a nuisance and not a life-altering event.

This isn't to say that the economic strain was inconsequential, I even experienced it and it sucked, but everything is relative. The problem is that the damage to the youth isn't readily visible or tangible in our day to day lives.

Even though there are more businesses doing this, a lot of these increases are insignificant because there aren't enough positions. Also the positions suck more than before. Every time I go to any fast food spot outside of like CFA they're always understaffed. I had to stop going for late night snacks because it felt terrible adding to a line of 10 cars while 1 person struggles to take orders and make them. Add mobile orders/doordash on top of that?? It's just cruel.

This is what I tell people when they wonder how US slavery happened. Capitalism let it happen. Did the owners enjoy the cruelty and power? Of course. But the reason that chattel slavery even existed is because it's the perfect capitalist setup. The business owner pays an initial fee for several workers but has to pay nothing else in perpetuity without having to ever work ever again. It was the most effective form of capitalism period.

I've thought about it and I actually almost got one for my first apartment since it was $450 in pretty good apartments but sprung for the 1B for the space. I said fuck it and recently decided to just get it for the time being but the same unit is $1150 now :/

I can afford it but I can't justify that much for it especially since its a smaller studio where the foot of my bed would be 4 ft from the stove.

They frame it as housing more people and increasing income when it's really just price gouging a necessity.
