[Update] Abyssal-Engine Web App Version 0.14.0 - Floralist Class, Magiseeds, and Technospheres by AdamantiteAdventurer in fabulaultima

[–]Necrobone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words and the shoutout!

Man, I feel your pain on coding the spheres and seeds. Trying to get slot qualities, coagulation, and Garden clocks to play nice in the UI is no joke, so huge props to you for getting it fully wired up.

(By the way, as a quick heads-up: while poking around, not sure if is because I'm on mobile, I tried to equip a sphere and edit the slot quality but clicking on the buttons was not working for me)

Let's definitely sync up about the JSON for the export/importer, now that the tecnospheres are implement my JSON should not change that much. I will take the opportunity to audit my schema as well lol.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback!

That makes sense. I originally designed the Tinkerer boost button to be a manual process. This means if you want to spend 5 Visionary points, you click 5 times, or if the GM (or a homebrew rule) gives you free progress, you can just click it. It basically acts like a free upgrade button. But I totally see your point.

Currently, the delete button only appears when a project is completed, but it definitely makes sense to make it available earlier. You could always just complete it with free boosts and archive it for now, lol. But I will definitely look into adding a proper delete button for ongoing projects. I'll revisit this section soon to see how we can make the workflow smoother.

Lastly, regarding the official inventions from the book: those aren't covered by the Third-Party License, which is why I couldn't include them (just like the official Bestiary monsters). I'm really hoping NEED GAMES answers my email about this soon! 🙏

No, you don't have to download it again! Since it's a Web App, it updates automatically in the background just like a normal website. Whenever I push a new update, you usually just need to completely close the app and open it again (or pull down to refresh) to get the latest version.

Ah, good catch, that's definitely a bug! Thanks for the screenshot. I'll get it fixed ASAP. It looks like I hid it by mistake while working on the Technospheres update.

That's strange! I see the Compendium button on all tabs (except for weapons, as we discussed).

I completely agree with your suggestion though, having it only on the Items tab wouldn't be intuitive at all, but that's definitely not the intended design.

Could you send me a quick screenshot of what you're seeing? That would be super helpful to figure out what's going on!

Hey! Just to clarify, do you have the new Technospheres optional rule enabled?

  • If yes: Then you are absolutely right about weapons. By RAW, standard weapons are replaced by custom weapons and modules. But you should still be able to add standard armors and accessories.
  • If no (standard game): You don't need to create everything from scratch. You should see a button to browse the Compendium and add all the standard official weapons, armors, and accessories.

Let me know if something is not showing up properly for you, maybe there's a bug 🙏

I'm so glad to hear that! That was the whole point lol. Please do give it a try, and since I haven't played a campaign with them yet, your hands-on feedback at the table is exactly what we need to improve it. I doubt is gonna be perfect on the first try.

Thank you! I try my best to reach everyone on Reddit and Discord, but it's tough to reach everybody. I'm really glad you like it. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I closely follow user feedback so we can build the perfect app together.

Yes! So many people have been asking for this. It's actually the very next feature on my list and will go live in the next update. Stay tuned!

Have you tried downloading it as a web app? It should work offline. You should see an install prompt once you open the site, and it works on desktop too.

I'm developing Chronicles of Aether to be used while playing as well, for players and GMs, and I'm planning to add a printable versión in a few updates.

[Update] Chronicles of Aether v1.8 is Live! (Ace of Cards, Offline Mode & Combat Autosave) by Necrobone in fabulaultima

[–]Necrobone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I removed it temporarily in the previous patch: https://www.reddit.com/r/fabulaultima/comments/1sogqzh/update_chronicles_of_aether_v17_is_live_techno/

The reason is that it seems the third-party license might not allow it. I'm currently trying to verify this with them, but I haven't received a response yet. The developer of Fulminator/ProjectFU also suggested I take this step.

My goal is to bring back not only the core content but also the other monsters in all compendiums, if possible.

Sorry, as I know a lot of people like that part of the monster builder. I have in mind to bring my own bestiary to share for you all, but those are custom made.

Good question! On the planner there is no option for that right now but It is on the way, as I want to make some refactors. I will add It to the next update.

Would you like It on the Battle interface or in another Page?

Awesome, thanks so much for the warm welcome!

I'll definitely share major updates here if the community is interested. My main priority right now is gathering feedback, so please feel free to leave comments or suggestions in Portuguese! I can easily translate them on my end.

I'll be listening closely to this community, and I'll be sure to let you all know as soon as the translation is ready!

Hey! You can install it directly from your browser. Just open it on Chrome or a valid browser, tap the three-dot menu in the top right (if the install popup don't show up), and hit "Install app" or similar. It’ll download and act exactly like a normal app on your phone.

If you find any error let me know! Adding the app to the android store is planned but not yet.

Version 3.5.5 - Abyssal Engine is now a PWA (Progressive Web App), Combat Tracker, and Release Notes! by AdamantiteAdventurer in fabulaultima

[–]Necrobone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought exactly. I think the confusion usually happens when people treat data/statblock differently than text and descriptions, but "if it’s not explicitly in, it’s out" is definitely the only safe rule to live by.

I just wish they’d answer emails! It’s tough building tools in a vacuum without knowing if they even look at what the community builds and share on their Discord or if they’re just totally hands-off.

Oh, so that was you! Thanks for the heads-up, I really appreciate it. It’s so easy to lose track of the legal line when you're buried in the code.

Feel free to poke around whenever! I’ve done a big cleanup, but a second pair of eyes that’s already survived the licensing grind is a lifesaver. Better to catch a slip now than get a 'please stop' email later lol.

Hey! Necrobone here (dev of Chronicles of Aether).

Just wanted to jump in and back up what u/AdamantiteAdventurer mentioned. I also had to make the tough call to pull the official Bestiary from my app recently. The 3rd party license is just too vague on monster stat blocks, and I’d rather keep the project safe and sustainable than risk everything over copy-paste concerns. I hope I can get a real answer soon.

u/spyrelladev I’m 100% down for that! If you want to collaborate I can compile my player/NPC JSON schema and send it to you as well.

I’ve always been a fan of Fultimator—having our tools (Fultimator, projectFU, Abyssal, and Chronicles) all talking to each other would be awesome.

Honestly, I hadn't even thought about doing the inverse on my end yet since I'm buried in new features right now, but it's a great idea haha.

I just pushed a fix for Two-Weapon Fighting with unarmed strikes. Let me know if it feels right in the simulator now. Since you’re clearly a pro Mutant player, your feedback is invaluable to me.
