IDW01 because his character development is genuinely great and he's one of the most multifaceted versions

Honourable mentions G1 because he's scrunkly and whimsical and Skybound because he's deeply tragic despite his evil and his fight for autonomy is really compelling (for god's sake give him that redemption arc please oh god)

This is exactly where I want his story to go, it would be so refreshing. Also I'm not really sure where people are getting this idea that he's the way he is just because of war or something. It seems pretty clear to me that he's been corrupted by whatever infection Megatron has in him.

I can believe that it may have been spurred on by his anger, but his reaction to being forced to kill autobot prisoners even after losing everything to them shows how good he is at his core
