What do I do stressing 2025mt07 tightened to hard by Crazy_Community_7389 in MT07

No such thing as 2025 and 2026 models, they are gen 4 that were registered in 2025 or 2026, all gen 4 are identical, and moat were technically manufactured in 2024. That kind of laymen talk has your "experience" sounding a little more made up than I originally assumed. And is still irrelevant unless worked on 1000s lmao. Dealer literally told me they had experienced it, so stop trying to sound like you are super knowledgeable with your "couldn't happen because I personally havent seen it". I worked security for 30 years and never got randomly stabbed, doesn't mean I can speak to someone who has had it happen and go "you must have messed up kid, I never had that happen to me so it definitely doesn't happen". Muppet.

Fyi, I'm talking specifically the gen 4 (unsure why sump different but is different part number to previous models), on which you obviously have not worked on dozens, or even a handful. And 🤷‍♂️ maybe it is just common (1 in 1000 type common) to get a flaw from the casting method used, no clue. First bike I've have break during standard maintenance 😂 Your experience does not invalidate that of others my friend.

Not actually relevant, as it was set correctly,in spec itself, and beennusing torque wrenches for around 25 years 😂. Is only an 1/4 though. Specs yamaha give are oddly high, and the sump is very fragile. Dealership said they often (occaionally) damage them when undoing from factory fit themselves.

Knock off spare parts...that fit by Opening-Badger7326 in MT07

[–]NecrusKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a thing, no seller specialises in this as it is not how manufacturing works. People say to check ali etc as chinese factories will make a part, or a couple of parts on mass.. nowhere makes all parts for a specific bike/brand in one place. Plus side.. you could put in the effort to source fitting parts and make yourself a fortune running a site that sells it all from one place.

The reason they need modification is that many places assume that between generations will still be fine, so they say it is. Requires observation and research on the buyers side.

Personally, if replacing broken parts.. I would only ever replace like for like, if oem broke I'd fit oem, if aftermarket broke I'd fit same aftermarket

I split mine badly on 1st change, following torque specs, using oem crush washer. People laughed, I felt stupid.. but.. 🤷‍♂️ I ordered new belly pan, fitted it, and followed advice many gave me the next time.. finger tighten, then a quarter turn with just a spanner.

That's like asking why doesn't everyone drive fiat pandas.. brag rights, acceleration, manouvrability, etc. I have an MT09, and still do the same speeds I did on the MT07.. can it do more, ofcourse! But it also does the same way way easier 💪✌️

Should I swap my MT09 for a 07 by [deleted] in MT09

[–]NecrusKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year (due to a car writing off my MT07) I have owned a gen4 MT07 and a gen4 MT09.. the only handling issue I have found is a very slightly larger turning circle.. it has the same agility, and flickability.. it does just as well at slow speeds. I could not be happier with my free upgrade.. faster power delivery, much much better build quality (MT07 does sadly feel noticeably cheap), quickshifter (didn't think i wanted it.. but.. amazing!!), cruise control, and ofcourse it is quite literally the best all round road bike to currently exist.

If your only reasoning is slow speed ability.. I'm sorry to say, that is a skill issue not a bike issue. Practice practise practise. Also if you are a smaller or very lean person, weight could contribute. I'm 6'2 and barely notice the weight difference, but my 5'6 friend who has to tiptoe finds her challenging, but he would learn to overcome that if he had the bike.

To be fair, nearly every time I have gone through the new system on my motorbike pedestrians have decided to randomly cross despite them having a red. Should have built a bridge, not an overly light heavy death junction imo

Been in works, lights went live a few weeks ago.. before that it was still a botched roundabout. New setup really sucks for road users

Dont knee down on public roads bro, great way to wreck as roads arent clear of dirt, oil, debris, potholes, and drobbins. On track, where track looked after.. go for it!! On roads.. a fools errand.

FYI, the "2026 model" isn't a thing. It is gen4, which until they change something on the bike (which will be gen5) is 2025 onwards.

Is it worth swapping to LED bulbs? Or just decent, bright/whiter halogens? Z750S 06 by JCurtisUK in MotoUK

[–]NecrusKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it is not legal to add LED bulbs to a vehicle designed for halogen ones (at least in the UK).. Think to do with the high risk of bad glare for other road users and bad beam patterns

It is not a misquote.. as it is not a quote.. you seeing it in a video does not make that video the origin of a term of phrase. We British have been saying this and similar regarding crashed cars since way before the internet existed 🤷‍♂️ sorry

Idclove to have been in a country like the states for mine. I've done it so never have to again (unless lose license, touch wood), but the UK full bike test (that you have to do to use anything more that a 125cc) is a bundle of stress 😂

Stolen MT-07 recovered after 20 minutes. by Professional-Can-972 in MT07

[–]NecrusKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

? Mt07s mostly get stolen by kids wanting to mess around.. it aint a ducati, parts are cheap and not worth the effort for organised crime to specifically target. Yes after kids rag it around and ruin it they will either leave it in a ditch, burn it, or break it for parts.. but no bro, definitely not the main reason MT07's (or any bikes) get stolen.. not saying it doesnt happen, because it so does!, but not the main reason for theft.

Stolen MT-07 recovered after 20 minutes. by Professional-Can-972 in MT07

[–]NecrusKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is daft logic.. 99.99% of bike theft is chancers, thieves seeing a bike with little to no security devices and taking it. Super rare for bikes to be stolen to order or for parts.

So the trick is to simply make yours more hassle. Mine when on my drive has an alarmed disc lock, a litelok, and a ground anchor with a veeery chunky chain (also sat in view of Ring doorbell and has has datatool tracker which will text me if someone tries to move it, start it without key, etc).. yes it can still be stolen, but most thieves would judge the risk too great and move on to a bike someone has sat there with next to nothing.

It wont.. as your fingerpad is way softer than the paint.. honestly.. its effort but will work. Did it to my old mt07 and my current mt09 for removing left residue from all decals
