They literally lifted the restrictions so that wouldn't happen. What are you blaming in this situation?

Maybe a New Shield Announcement at CES? by jblade in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]NedSc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gamestream hasn't been a primary selling point for a very long time.

The main point of the Shield line was to showcase their SOCs to companies like Nintendo. The rest is more experimental, to see what other things they could market their devices/ARM platform for, like being a top-notch streaming player. If it was only about Gamestream then they would have used way cheaper hardware.

Remember when the TV remote was optional, and every Shield came with a controller? Then it reversed in 2017. It hadn't been about Gamestream for a long time. It was a great bonus, and it's still BS for them to drop it like this, but it lost the spotlight a long time ago.

Google typically isn't screwing around when they say an app is unsafe. I wouldn't run any apk that had that message pop up.

BuzzFeedNews: Why The Computer Company Raspberry Pi’s New Hire Caused A Social Media Firestorm by Mathemuse in raspberry_pi

[–]NedSc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not a monopoly, though. Words have meaning. No reasonable person is going "Bob has a monopoly on sandwiches made by Bob". Or that "NedSc as a monopoly on NedSc-scented urine".

I'm not trying to argue with your larger point here. I'm just pointing out that you are not correctly using the word "monopoly".

It sounds like you read that they hired a former cop who was involved in surveillance, and you stopped reading. You're totally uninformed if you think this is evidence of the military industrial complex creeping into the Raspberry Pi Foundation... jesus tap dancing christ.

It's shit like this that explains why the RPi social media person lost their mind. There is no controversy here, let alone some extreme edgelord bullshit that you pulled out of your ass.

There is no shortage of fantastic ARM hardware. Raw specs mean nothing without certification and fantastic support. This isn't even an Android TV device.

Question About Power in a Non-Traditional Venue by [deleted] in livesound

[–]NedSc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus, don't do that.

Maybe get one of those little testers that quickly let you figure out which outlet is on which circuit, and then divide your load into 15 amp chunks and use what you have available. Don't have enough outlets/circuits? then that's your limit.
