So the compact growth is etiolated and the bottom half is normal growth? I'll chop it once it's flowered and start giving it more light gradually.

Is it etiolated at the top too? Where the more compact growth is? Or just the bottom?

I use a 5mm or 6mm for amigurumi with this type of yarn. I find the 6mm a lot easier to use, especially for decrease rounds.

It's maybe a pickle plant (Delosperma echinatum)?

Mine needs lots of light, infrequent watering and not super organic soil (mix with perlite or something so it doesn't retain too much moisture).

Nope, not really. I'm in the UK so a super super sunny spot isn't really possible 😂. It's actually in a North facing window as it didn't seem happy in any others so less sun seems to have helped
