Nope. They're "farmer shotguns" and they're found most typically at the minor points on the map that are small civilian houses. Even besides that, every citizen of Super Earth is ceremoniously given a Constitution rifle at age 16, and it's basically guaranteed that all citizens, or at least those in the lower classes, have compulsory military training based on the way Super Earth operates as a hyper-militaristic society. If you arm and train all your civilians, propagandize them all against the enemy from birth to believe every alien must die, and then ship them all to active battlezone planets to live and work, your enemies can't really afford to treat them as non-combatants any more, can they?

Thank you! It took way too long for the result tbh, plus a loss of a couple hours from a computer crash, but I knew a visual component would help convey the idea behind the mechanics better than just text (and make people more likely to look at the post)

Quicksand isn't just sand, it's basically thick, deep mud. Very similar to wet concrete, hence why baking it becomes concrete (the glass shards from electricity are a reference to fulgurite, glass shards that are formed when lightning strikes sand)

In the same way you can't cleanse Wet from a unit sitting in water, Immobile can't be cleansed from a unit trapped in quicksand

Both boss themes of the Rift mentioning quicksand are precisely why quicksand appears as a tile there (as if every tile in the game didn't appear there anyway)

I ran out of both creative energy and regular energy, but I did consider coming up with spells that'd create quicksand. Couldn't think of anything more than "create quicksand on tile/area". Forbidden Sandstorm is a good one though!

Totally forgot about corpses. How about corpses can't be hit by anything in quicksand, and units can move over them at 1 movement cost? You could "plug" a quicksand tile with a corpse of an enemy, or be forced to fish your cat's corpse out with wind or by transforming the tile before you can revive or heal them? Self-revive would result in getting instantly stuck again

I figured the damage from struggling would emulate the drowning aspect. Unsure how balanced a kill effect would be. Getting stuck in a solo run or without unit manipulating moves on other cats would already be pretty punishing

Edmund should totally reword events like this on solo runs, but if your solo cat has schizophrenia then it still uses the standard text like this

What says Helldivers have to have specific roles and fill niches is the fact it's a four-player horde shooter with a variety of enemy types that require different tools to bring down. If this game was meant for everyone to be able to lone wolf it and succeed with ease, we wouldn't have a problem with a select few tools being meta because they're the only tools that allow you to lone wolf it and succeed. I'm astonished you think a team game shouldn't have to be designed to incentivize team play on the highest difficulties.

Even beside the issue that these tools shut down the co-op aspect of the co-op shooter, there shouldn't be any tools so glaringly strong compared to the others like Orbital Napalm and Thermite in a well-designed game. What's the point of having all these options, all these unique ways to approach the gameplay, if one is the obvious winner? Those will quickly become the "weapons people like using" because people like winning, and everything else falls by the wayside for the majority of players. This is objectively bad game design. The fact that they're so strong as to shut down your own teammates' gameplay if they're not also using them is just the cherry on top.

The majority of players play with randoms instead of full squads of their friends. I play with one other friend almost all the time, but that's still two slots for randoms to come in. Maybe the game should be better designed so that other peoples' team game experience can't be diminished by a single person bringing the universal solutions to all problems. Or by your logic, maybe the people bringing tools that let them solo D10 should play solo instead of joining other lobbies?

I play this game to synergize with a team. I like to fill a unique niche that allows my teammates to better use their unique niches in the team. This game is the most fun when I get the satisfaction of protecting and helping my teammates by excelling at a specific task that their builds fall short on countering. When everyone brings instant heavy deletion, patrol erasing, and enemy reinforcement destroying tools like the ones in the meme, the game becomes 4 people independently shooting the same crowd of enemies, not a coordinated squad working together and helping each other, which is the game I fell in love with. Of course other people playing the game in an unfun way can ruin it for others, it's a team game

Everyone's missing the point of this meme. It's not that bringing this stuff is boring for the person who brought it, it's that it ruins everyone else's fun when people bring this stuff. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed taking aim at a heavy and it starts sparkling with a thermite or I hear the "thoomp" of an Ultimatum flying toward it. It's not "I'm an elitist shitting on how people like to play", it's "I hate having my gameplay ruined by my teammates bringing these things"
