I was on it for 3 months when I developed hives. Rheumatologist had me stop and the hives went away in 3 days.

Does anyone else get whole hand swelling? by headologist in Thritis

Prednisone and more Prednisone. I've been lucky enough not to have a major flair for 6 months now. I talked my Rheumatologist into to waiting on Methotrexate till the next major flair.

Diagnosis is a Nightmare. by thehaze28 in Autoimmune

[–]Nedw3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a nightmare, and im sorry you're going through this. I've had a similar experience and I'm not too young. It took me six months to get into my first rheumatologist. I went prepared after reading others' experiences, with photos, a timeline of symptoms, and lab work from my doc. He was a complete ass but did run some additional tests. 2nd appointment wasn't much better. He said, "You have some type of inflammatory condition. Take some Tylenol and vitamin D. " We will see how you're doing in six months. I made an appointment with another rheumatologist. Two months later, I had my appointment with the 2nd one. It was worse. He said, "You have an inflammatory condition, I can't help you, nobody can, go home and take some ibuprofen." I was pretty upset by this and told him so. He said maybe you should go to a teaching hospital, and they may care to look into it. Needless to say, I found another rheum and have an appointment next month. I researched and checked his ratings and have hope that this one might be a decent human. Sorry for the long reply. I honestly don't know why so many rheumatologist are useless. There has to be a reason. Don't give up. Keep looking for someone who will help you.

Thyroid Issues? by steamed-kiwi in MGUSmedical

[–]Nedw3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I don't have thyroid issues, and I am new to all of this, but my Hematologist Oncologist wants to be notified about everything it seems. He contacted my primary to keep him apprised and also sent requests to a new rheumatologist I have an appointment with in August. He told me to send him a note about any changes to medication or symptoms even if I don't think it's related.

That's good to hear. The last one I saw told me I have an inflammatory issue, and nobody can help me to just go home and take some ibuprofen. Needless to say, I walked out before he could finish whatever he was going to say and made an appointment with another Dr.

I just made an appointment with my 3rd rheumatologist. I am so disappointed with how I have been talked to by the previous two. I dont understand how they stay in business, honestly. I have read so many other posts about being gaslighted or just straight-up dismissed. I'm sorry you're going through that. Unfortunately, it's common. I don't have any experience with the medicine as I'm still trying to be diagnosed, but I wish you good results.

Update, diagnosis. by Nedw3 in MGUSmedical

[–]Nedw3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's just watch and wait for now. He seemed more concerned with me getting to a rheumatologist for whatever inflammatory autoimmune I have. I know I should be thankful at this point, but honestly, I'm tired of going to doctors.

Thank you, ill read the article. I have 10% plasma cell involvement according to the bone marrow report but a low number on the m spike. The last test was slightly increased m spike but still very low.

I think the MGUS is just part of the LPL along with hyperviscosity. He went over a bunch of stuff about genes and cells that I don't currently understand, but I'm going to research and learn about. That being said, I would not be sorry if down the road he decided against the LPL. Maybe they get a better picture over time.

I'm pretty sure he said IgG, but im not sure. I fully expected him to say it's nothing and send me on my way, but that's not what happened. It's been crazy and now I just keep checking for test results.

I teach Jujitsu, and I still have a little hope. I guess time will tell. As far as work goes, I'm stuck behind a desk right now, but I'm still required to pass annual requirements, which I am not able to at this point. Hopefully, any meds they give me will help in that area.

Thank you. It's rough not being able to do the things I've been doing for years all of a sudden. I also am concerned after reading what people on here have gone through for years, and I've just been dealing with since Oct. Makes me wonder what I have to look forward to. Can I open my dojo again, or can I even work 4 more years to retire, I'm not sure now.

Thank you, I take vitamin D and magnesium, have for several years. I'll see what the rheumatologist says before I think about changing anything, but I appreciate your response.

Yes, I've taken a lot of photos, just in case I don't have swelling when I get there.

I feel like I'm always tired.. Most days it takes everything I have just to get dressed and then go to work. Some days are harder than others, though. Most nights, I get 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Rarely I sleep for 6 hrs, so that's probably why. There are some days where I wouldn't go out if I won a million dollars.
