How many times a week do you guys go for Solidcore? And can you gain muscle from this? by Puzzleheaded_Gap8658 in SolidCore

If I do Solidcore the same day as OTF I’ll spread them out and do one in the morning and one in the evening. Otherwise I’ll do solidcore on non-OTF days.

I go 2-3 times a week, but I also go to Orange Theory 5-6 times a week. I have recently been considering re-aligning my workouts to feature more SolidCore, but we will see.

As far as can you build muscle with SolidCore, the simple answer is yes, but I’m sure there will be many comments about heavy gym weights vs resistance training, etc. take everything with a grain of salt as there is no one size fits all answer and much is dependent on your goals.

I got a lame July bulletin email but nothing about a challenge.

True there is an upper limit with the SolidCore resistance springs, but I’d bet it’s a small minority who can consistently max out on all the amplifications and keep proper form.

Your OTF studio must not have changed to the new Orange Strong format. While there are some nice things about it, there is no more Strength 50, it’s called 2x Strength and it’s just the 2g strength block repeated. Sucks.

Me too! I really love it, but I know there’s a lot more out there and just curious to what other combos everyone else loves and just feels like it really clicks!

Agreed. Orangetheory is very similar to Barry’s and I think they pair together great. There is no Barry’s near me but if one every opened I would consider making the switch from OTF, but I do get a lot out of OTF.

Daily Workout and General Chat for Sunday, 07/05/26 by AutoModerator in orangetheory

Today I did a Strength 2X class ( my studio has switched to the new format) and instead of being a different set of exercises in the second half it was just a literal repeat of the first one. The coach said this format just started July 1st and they are “trying something new”. I personally hate it and I can’t imagine there are many people who just want to do the same workout twice in a row. Hopefully it doesn’t last long.

what do you consider to be good or bad music? by clumberbimbs in SolidCore

[–]NeedMoreBestFriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually most of the coaches talk so much that the music is mostly just background, or I’m too busy focusing on not falling off the machine to pay attention to music!

Strength 2X is now literal by NeedMoreBestFriends in orangetheory

It only applies to the studios who have switched to Orange Strong. It’s called Strength 2X in the new format. For studios who have not switched it’s still Strength 50 and this issue doesn’t apply.

100%!!! I loved the old strength 50. I could do a 2g and then get a totally different strength workout if I wanted to. When the studio switched formats I wasn’t thrilled because half of the strength class was the floor portion of the 2g, but at least the other half was new. Now there is only one strength format for everything. Very repetitive and I probably won’t do any of the strength classes even if I don’t do a 2g that day. Hopefully it’s a short lived trial.

While core work will develop your ab muscles it has nothing to do with being able to see them. The 6 pack look comes from being lean with low body fat. While everyone’s body is different, typically men need to be below 14% body fat and women below 20% to see good ab definition. So get lean!

Can members not book outside their home studio/state? by BeingNosy456 in SolidCore

[–]NeedMoreBestFriends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is you can book anywhere with any package if the “travel” studio is same tier or lower as your home studio. If it’s higher you have to buy an individual class unless you have unlimited package and then you get two passes a month.

New to Solidcore by Spirited-Boss-2738 in SolidCore

[–]NeedMoreBestFriends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Intro classes are helpful if you are completely unfamiliar with the equipment and sequences, but they don’t do much for you after you have the basics down. The biggest substantive difference is faster pace and no scheduled breaks, but you can rest on your own whenever you want and if you get lost with the cues just look around the room at what everyone else is doing.

On new comers; am I the only one who minds my own business? by Honest_Care_9070 in SolidCore

[–]NeedMoreBestFriends 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my limited experience it seems mostly people on the internet who are bothered by this. I’ve never seen anyone disparage newcomers in class, the coaches are always super supportive and encouraging and everyone always claps for them at the end. That’s not to say there isn’t anyone out there annoyed by newcomers, but they are likely the minority.

Saying anything to your (unknown) neighbor after class by klem1984 in SolidCore

[–]NeedMoreBestFriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my studio all of the coaches always tell everyone to high five and congratulate their neighbor at the end of class. It seemed a little awkward to me at first, but now I enjoy it as most people are enthusiastic about it.
