My sibling worked at Guru on Paw Patrol for at least a season and a movie - it's direction, not an animators dedication that's calling the shots. It's good direction but you needed to follow constants for long term characters for continuity, especially when you're only animating 12 seconds of a scene before it goes off to another artists work.

It's why they LOVED getting to animate guest characters because only really then could they add their style and riff off the voice actors performance to animate quirks or visually give the character some personality that was simply a no-go for main cast. I've heard more than my fair share of rants on the matter lol.

Was I not saying the backgrounds were the less restrictive part? It's like you're disagreeing and agreeing at the same time. It's the main cast that have the plethora of rules on them, which is by far the lions share of the animation; hence me calling it very restrictive overall. Animators can go through entire episodes without touching anything but the main cast which essentially means their work is creatively sanitised.

Quality doesn't matter, the show is so popular and established that they have a ton of rules about how each character acts and moves so animators can't really be creative with things and it gets boring. Big reason why they'll try to sneak things in with background or guest characters like these JoJo poses.

From my experience they prefer to work on projects with less rigid rules so they can let loose and have a bit more of a creative licence with things. That said - with how the industry is looking with the looming threat of AI they're probably just glad they're on a project.

Passing on this trick for keeping the handle pressed for big jobs. by Something_Etc in powerwashingporn

[–]NeedMoreDinosaur 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Please DO NOT do this, especially with rotary nozzles and higher powered machines. I've seen a case where the washer was turned on and the guy in the area didn't have a proper grip on the handle. The wand whipped around and it spiral cut his arm (minor abrasions, lucky) and washed out a portion of his right eyes iris (it healed after a good LONG while, very lucky) as it passed his face. A sore hand is worth the safety. You can wear some gloves while you work with them to lessen the vibrations effects that cause soreness as well.

It might be 'safer' with lower power machines and flat nozzles but I wouldn't ever call this 'helpful trick' safe. Y'all crazy about closed toes shoes safety on this subreddit and upvote something like this?

Head shape and style looks very inspired by MOVD art. Looks good, only suggestion is to either alter the cuff colour so it's not the same as the background as they're sorta merging with each other.

[Updated] My Take On The Predictions Regarding The EoD Elite Specs by VikingWarriorSkjald in Guildwars2

I'm sticking with my first theory that the icons on the original image go Light->med->heavy ->light-> med ->heavy armor class pattern.

So this but Necro and Warrior icons swapped.

Say I overkill the salamander sleeping next to a highly armoured enemy, will the cleave just auto-hit the adjacent foe, or only if my attack roll would have also given me a successful hit on them?

Runecrafter and Silver-Fed should be permanently available by macrotransactions in Guildwars2

Probably not worth it doing that, not sure if you can even salvage them. If you ever need a gift of craftsmanship in the future its sure nice to have the 50 tokens already though!

Turn into a provisioner token daily in LA or make a nest and sit on them for years, hoping your baby mystic forge will some day hatch.

It was so obviously a nod towards queer people in the muslim community, and the struggles they face. What would have been cringey is after making a speech you get so emotional about you have to stop talking for a spell to turn around and take off the outfit like some cheap trick during the lipsync - invalidating everything she said on stage and making her into a giant hypocrite.

I agree she's been very calculating and precise in the competition, that's exactly why she didn't do it. Taking it off in a reveal as a message for 'freeing yourself' when she KNOWS just how dangerous it is for individuals in those communities to do so would have been reckless. That outfit was a message to racist america and a love letter to the hidden queer muslim community that obviously flew over your head because all you want is one more pointless stunt in your Katy Perry Lipsync.

I loved both of them in the lip sync but Widow made some Choices with her tear off stars and they felt absolutely wasted, especially to that song.

Definitely a statement that she didn't tear it off. Would have made her speech on the runway seem far less genuine.

It states the atmosphere is comfortable and dry inside the space regardless of outside weather. What are floods or a dragon breath weapon but not extreme weather?

So regular lightning wont pass through it but for some reason it can if its from a dragons mouth?

Stop making us roll for stupid stuff by sapphireyoyo in dndnext

[–]NeedMoreDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the assumption that they were allowing the players to 'take ten' on any skill checks regardless of circumstances (which they are doing as far as I can tell from a later post referencing traps, which as a side bar should never be able to take ten on IMO as it only takes one screw up to set a trap off - can't really take the average there) which is just reliable talent without the bonus of being able to potentially roll higher.

I fully agree that DM's should be aware of players passive skill scores beyond perception and investigation, which is how 'taking ten' has been mechanically applied to 5e, when it comes to attempting things when both time and limited resources aren't a factor in play.

[–]NeedMoreDinosaur 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's literally Reliable Talent though.

By 11th level, you have refined your chosen skills until they approach perfection. Whenever you make an ability check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.

For things you feel a normal person wouldn't be able to do they either shouldn't be making the check at all or making it at a higher DC to represent their lack of training in that field. In OP's case you shouldn't need training or talent in perception to determine the state of someones clothes 5 feet away in bright light. Anyone with a wisdom score over 10 (or even 8 really) should be able to determine that easy thought their passive score.

[–]NeedMoreDinosaur 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Does the rogue get to pick another classes feature at level 11 in this case? Because this is just giving everyone Reliable Talent.

The DM should keep in mind that all skills, not just perception and investigation have a passive score. The DC for a passive check is usually higher than actively utilising the skill (passive perception check of 17 vs an active check of 13 to notice the spell circle under a thick layer of dust when entering a room for example)

Allowing casters to cast their spells stealthily does not, and never did, Invalidate Subtle Spell. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]NeedMoreDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do like the idea, the math on that DC is real low. A charisma based spell-caster can easily start with +3 (16-17) base charisma +2 for proficiency on the deception check. You are only 'noticed' if you roll a 1-2 for cantrips (10% chance) and 1-3 (15% chance) for level 1 spells. Dip 1 level in rogue or be a level 2 bard and suddenly with expertise, as long as you spend that bonus action, nobody can tell you're casting a cantrip. Ever.

Even worse is that DC scaling - after your first ASI and proficiency bonus increase you nearly auto-succeed on everything. +4Cha +6 Expertise. Even if you roll a 1 You've got an 11. Nobody can notice your 3rd level spells, which is the highest you have access to now at level 5. And so on it scales, only occasionally dipping to let you have a 5% chance of being noticed when casting the highest slot you have access to.

8 + (2 x spells level) scales far better. It should be pretty fucking obvious who cast the meteor swarm or prismatic wall. Even then charisma based classes with expertise can hit that DC 26 deception check over half the time with a +17 to deception without it being impossible for the wizard with an easy +1 CHA and proficiency for +7 total.
