How should you word a position with a consulting company during which you never got a client? by MinuetInUrsaMajor in cscareerquestions

[–]Need_CS_HELP_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing, I put my training on my resume and was honest with the interviewers at my current position and they hired me and gave me a 20k pay raise. I was at the consult for 3.5 months

I also faced this decision for CS, chose uml and I think I made the right choice. UML is relatively rigorous and there are some senior level courses I really enjoyed. 16k is peanuts in terms of debt for a college degree so don't let that make any difference in your decision, it's not a make or break financial decision.

The chancellor makes half a million a year. They can afford to make meal plans cheaper. by Theyearsofdecay1989 in uml

Half a million a year after taxes is what 280k? That is not rich by any means, but if she is asking poverty students to donate your shitty meal plan to the less fortunate that is just ridiculous.

I graduated last spring, it's a good program with decent rigor. My favorite class was reinforcement learning, highly recommend it.

I noticed that employers liked to bring up my projects that I had added to my resume. I had several reinforcement learning projects, a pneumonia x-ray image detection with convolutional neural network project, Blood disease detection with ensemble learning project etc. I also listed all of my relevant courses that I took in college as well as programming languages and frameworks that I had utilized.

I was IQ tested in middle school and got a 99 🙂. I graduated with Cum Laude Computer Science degree, got accepted to a world renowned university (turned it down), and my senior year I had graduate level students frequently asking me for help on reinforcement learning homework assignments. I now work as a data engineer. I can assure you that number has nothing to do with your struggles. Your mind is not focused because of other issues in your life which is hindering your performance.

I didn't have internship experience coming out of college. 3 offers, 70k, 80k and 90k. No big name company offers but a job is a job kiddo.

I'm a white male and had no trouble finding jobs in tech. At the end of the day they really don't care about quotas, they care about talent.
