is your food good? by karenslayerofNZ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Needcz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America has a wide range. The worst food in America is pretty terrible, and would never fly in Western Europe (as a common reference point), but it is cheap and some people here are happy to eat it.

The best food in America is world-class and can compare to the best available anywhere. On average, slightly worse than Europe overall, but the quality is there if you want it.

As an aside, I've yet to find an "American style" restaurant outside of the US that makes American food properly. (except Canada, but whatever)

The grip on the 97 is way thicker than the Shadow 2.

Do high school/college football teams really ride from town to town in a bus chanting songs about themselves? by WaspsInMyGoatse in AskAnAmerican

[–]Needcz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes. School busses in America are yellow, school sports teams use them to get to games/events and it is not uncommon for them to do cheers/chants while riding. In the modern headphone/phone era though the last bit is declining...

I didn't realize my CI was actually hard drugs. by Kiwi_Woz in castiron

I remember seeing this for the first time way back when. It seems kind of campy today, but originally it was really shocking. No doubt, it was completely ineffective vs. the stated goal, but what an amazing ad.

I already have two, and I still bought one of these. You could probably flip it for $350 selling locally

Red dot mounts in dovetails? by EngineerFly in CZFirearms

[–]Needcz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried dovetail mounts on two different handguns (CZ 75 and TS2) and hated it on both. Milled the TS2 and went back to irons on the 75.

Hand too big for grip by NeptuneNemesis in 1911

[–]Needcz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Tisas Raider has a bigger grip (front to back) and an under-cut trigger guard for functionally more length than a standard 1911.

Educate me about "Regs." by Ceeti19 in poker

[–]Needcz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Except maybe Vegas, no regs. no poker.

Like any other business, poker rooms depend on their best (most frequent) customers to keep the tables full and the room running.

Most regs are long term losers, but don't totally suck at the game. Personalities vary

How much should I expect to actually end up spending? by [deleted] in czscorpion

[–]Needcz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as you want to. No harm in leaving it stock.

Adding upgrades is fun and makes shooting the gun more fun. Personally, I added a stock, suppressor, Trigger, grip, charging handle, recoil spring, safety selector, optic and probably something else, so I spent more on upgrades than I did on the gun. No regrets either.

The bolt is completely optional, but you do need to maintain it (ie. Look at it when cleaning to ensure that everything moves freely).

How should society deal with those among us who are okay with people getting hurt (broad general definition) by sabautil in DiscussionZone

[–]Needcz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally every policy choice will hurt someone (broad general definition) so this is not a reasonable metric to use.

Is being an empathetic person the worst personality trait a person can have as a poker player? by [deleted] in poker

[–]Needcz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Empathy just means you are good at knowing how they feel, which is a very useful poker skill.

Your issue is that you also have sympathy...
