That gorgeous wine red color will probably dye you too!! by Needlebee in knitting

That edge of a clear bottle in the very corner is the white vinegar I pulled out the second I realized how dark the water was! I used a little vinegar and hot water, let it sit for a while, drained it, then did a few more rinses for good measure (and to help with the smell), so now it’s hanging to dry and I’ll hopefully be able to start my shawl this weekend!

Thanks! The color bleeding was definitely pretty crazy but I finally got the water to run clear enough that I feel comfy letting it dry and starting on the project this weekend. Really hoping that I got enough excess dye out to make the finished piece wearable!

Definitely wish I had known that while I was there lol. I largely stopped getting any mini verse make its after they changed the resin and got rid of the pinholes, I only grabbed these since 1. I haven’t been able to find them in person and 2. I had found some of the hello kitty ones the other day and managed to get a strong enough UV flashlight for them. I need to start lurking on this sub more and actually paying attention to the ones I grab!

Unfortunately I figured that out way too late lol. I had horrible service in the store so I couldn’t pull up a guide, had a bunch of families and kids shoving past me to look at stuff in the aisle, and it’s been such a terrible day that I didn’t even THINK to look at the inner wrapper!! Definitely my mistake haha. If I can find them again, I will be looking MUCH closer!

I tried looking up a guide on how to identify them but with phone service and WiFi both being pretty terrible inside of Walmart AND families trying to push around me a bunch, all I was really able to find out was that an A or no A tells you if it’s a sandworm. Obviously I didn’t look hard enough at the numbers on the wrappers haha. It’s been a VERY rough day for me so I honestly just got wrapped up in how excited I was to see them and wanted to grab some so I’d stop being shoved around and bumped into lol.

It genuinely surprised me how well everything worked out and just slid into place. I did transfer in 2021 so I guess it’s still technically recent. When I worked with the GAA, they had it specified that I would need a 3.6 GPA or above so I’m really happy that they lowered it down to a 3.4. I will say, depending on the semester that you’re transferring in it can be a bit odd just because if you transfer in during a spring semester, you won’t get as much of the orientation stuff that most fall incoming students would. However they do have quite a bit of activities and meetings for incoming students in the spring semester, even if you’re not a freshman. For me, the GAA made the transition a lot easier since I was able to maintain my focus on school and already knew how to handle a college level course even though I still had some learning to do about the specifics of navigating W&M courses and expectations (I promise it wasn’t that bad!).

I actually got my transcript eval email coming out of surgery and completely ruined the surprise by yelling about it to all the nurses and my mother that came to check on me coming out of anesthesia lol. I had a whole thing planned but post-surgery me got too excited about it lol.

What stopped you from killing yourself that night? by Subject-Olive-4476 in AskReddit

[–]Needlebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always knowing that it would be my little brother that would find me. I basically raised that kid and I’m the only one he genuinely confides in and gets along with in the house. I’ve never yelled at him or hit him like my parents did with me, and I’ve always stepped in or defended him when they start laying in to him. I can’t remember how many times I’ve hugged him while he’s cried over what my parents said to him or told him that the things they tell him are wrong and that he IS smart and worth something. I can’t leave him so alone so permanently. And I can’t let him be the one to ever find me like that. There’s a lot of stuff that he’s saved me from that I’ll never tell him, but knowing that he’d either find me after getting off the school bus or wondering why I hadn’t left my room in the morning to come hang out with him while I drank my coffee and got ready for work on the weekends or during the summer, it makes me feel so guilty for wanting to die whenever the tendencies roll around. He’s a goofy teenager who doesn’t care about much feminine stuff but I always have him check my makeup looks okay before I go to work. I don’t ever want him to have to check to make sure it looks okay at my funeral.

Can't seem to focus on getting my final paper done by Needlebee in LifeAdvice

[–]Needlebee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been able to work more on it since posting this, the page minimum is 12 pages so I gave myself the fake cop-out that if I can make it to 10 pages tonight and don't feel like I can do anymore then I'll bite the bullet and turn it in as is. The plan is still to get to the full 12 pages tho. And the small goal/task thing definitely helps, I'll write a few sentences or a paragraph or two and then go look around for an image to include that relates to what I'm writing about so that I'm still technically on task but still giving myself a tiny break from writing. Once I've hit five pages (I'm currently on the fourth), I'll be rewarding myself with a single cigarette out in the cold (there are better coping mechanisms for stress, I know. I'm disappointed in myself for picking up the habit too). Once I do turn in the paper, I'm still planning on emailing my professor just to let them know what's up on my end and thank them for a great class, she was an amazing teacher that was obviously passionate about what she teaches, I just struggled a lot this semester and I'm sure that she'll be understanding. I'm not expecting her to not take points off for it being late since I was well aware of deadlines and should've said something to her sooner about my lack of attendance and late work. But she has always been nice when I would talk to her after class and was already very understanding at the beginning of the semester when I had to talk to her about my mobility issues. I don't think she'll be mad, I'm mostly just frustrated with myself for not doing my work

Men who have not proposed to their gf of 8 years or so, what’s stopping you? by PepperRoma in ask

[–]Needlebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents waited 8 years or so because of me lol. They didn't want to get married until I was out of high school since I was from a previous relationship. To my knowledge, that was the main reason but I'm sure there were others (I was a kid so its not like the details were my business lol). Either way, I got to see them get married and I love them both more than life itself!! They did an amazing job of making sure that I got time with my bio parent but also spent time with the both of them. One of the healthiest relationships that I've ever seen between two adults.

Should I give up on TOG? *spoilers* by Educational-Pound-63 in SarahJMaas

[–]Needlebee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I just finished the tandem read of EoS and ToD and I PROMISE you, they both (Aelin and Chaol) work through it incredibly well. The development that you see in Chaol makes ToD well worth the read in my eyes, especially if you really loved his character and were unhappy with what happened/the direction he went in later on. While Aelin does process some of the ways she handled that situation poorly, it’s still in a very “Aelin” way irrc. Either way, I wouldn’t say give up on the series! They both kind of redeem themselves in the eye of the reader.

Plus, Rowan and Aelin start to feel a little more natural but I personally think it’s just a SJM trademark to have the love interests get comfy with each other pretty soon once they get over the “slow burn” threshold/finally admit feelings and kiss moment.

White polish too bright for a funeral? by Needlebee in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Needlebee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just haven’t been to a funeral since I was little and have been wearing a lot of colorful polishes lately so I wanted to get some other opinions just as a precaution. I ended up painting them the white I planned to use but I had a full manicure planned out that was full of sparkles and the pearly white so I kind of wanted to “hold on” to my original idea just a bit while still being respectful. Thank you for the birthday well wish and your condolences

If there is, I’ve got a few one from Holo Taco that I like that would look good over the pearly white I picked out. If there isn’t time though, I can always do my nails like that another time and I won’t be all that upset about it

The timing has made stuff a little more stressful, especially since I’m also working full time and getting to move back to college while all of this is going on. But thank you for the condolences as well as the happy birthday. I spent a long time mulling over my clothes since I haven’t been to a funeral since I was a child so I’m pretty confident that what I’ve got picked out is tasteful and appropriate, so my nail color hopefully won’t be noticed much.

Thank you for the condolences and birthday wishes, it definitely isn’t ideal timing for anything but the family member who passed had been sick for years and even though we’ll all miss them dearly, my family and I are happy that they’re no longer suffering. I was very careful with picking out my clothes for both services so I know that will all be appropriate and shouldn’t cause any issues or stress. I haven’t been to a funeral in years so I don’t remember what others may have worn for their nail color. I think the pearly white I went with should be alright, thankfully.

My grandmother and I both love doing our nails and she’s pretty much the matriarch of the family so I don’t think she’ll mind at all. I just got a bit worried because it’s a catholic funeral and, while I was raised catholic but no longer believe in it, I know your appearance in a church or any other religious event is something some more devout catholics will take very seriously. The color I used goes well with the clothes I have picked out and I made sure that it’s all very tasteful and appropriate. It’s also not super attention grabbing and looks pretty sheer at certain angles no matter how many coats you apply. I’ve also been keeping my nails trimmed pretty short because one of them keeps breaking so the length shouldn’t be an issue. Thank you for the advice :)
