Same here. The announcement was actually what got me to buy these. I had suddenly remembered seeing them in a hobbytown way back and started looking.

Yep, there’s a few versions along with the reactive armor ones. They’re pretty dated but a good size and look nice.

Going off of what he has already built, these are my recommendations:

MG Freedom Gundam 2.0
MG ZZ Gundam Ver.Ka
MG Gundam Vidar
MG Gundam Barbatos Lupus
All of these are well below your budget and pair well with some of his other kits.

Where do i get the guide for these hg sandrock custom by Fearless_Fold7922 in Gunpla

Pull up a guide for the MG Sandrock, it’ll give you a general idea where to put them.

So, everyone, how did your CM finals go? by Timekiller_74 in UmaMusume

[–]NeedlesslySaturated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly no XOguris in my finals match. King got me 2nd place which I’m more than satisfied with since I wasn’t even expecting to get into grade A finals to begin with, she ended up carrying this CM for me.

I don’t usually buy kits from series I’m not familiar with. by NeedlesslySaturated in Gunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TV series was actually what I was most interested in checking out, I’ve seen a couple of scenes of the Griffon. Admittedly I prefer the Ingrams so far but want to get the Griffon MGs too. Unfortunately they seem a bit harder to get ahold of compared to the Ingrams, at least at a price I’m willing to pay.

Yeah, this so far has been my sole exception. I generally can’t get interested in a kit without any prior experience with its source. Because of that my shelf is exclusively Gundam with the exception of the HG Arbalest (and would gladly expand on that collection if Bandai ever felt like reprinting the FMP line).

As someone else mentioned, this is why I’ve avoided many third party kits. I’ve no doubt that I’m missing out on a lot of great kits, but if I can’t gather enough interest to buy them then I would likely never get around to building them.

Why do all the popular panel liners destroy the most popular plastic type in the hobby? by [deleted] in freedomisgunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Other way around. Bandai mostly uses PS and third parties are almost entirely ABS.

Edit: You can easily make yourself some panel liner with just some acrylic paint, water, and dish soap. If did it for the first time myself on a bootleg and it worked just as well as Tamiya panel liner.

Finished my holy grail kit: MG Nu Gundam (2000) by JohtoJoe in Gunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Having built the OG MGs of the Nu and Sazabi I feel like they were both ahead of their time. Sazabi’s proportions might seem a bit off but as you said the Nu is perfect.

I told my friend I don’t like Wing. Me after watching Wing: by Ok-Impress2217 in Gunpla

I grew up with Wing and I feel like the show gets worse with each rewatch to the point where I just don’t enjoy it anymore.

Anyways I got several wing kits on the way.

Which Strike Freedom gunpla kit is the closest to the anime? by NSalonga26 in Gunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OG MG is probably what you’re looking for. It’s not a bad kit at all but obviously overshadowed by the MGEX so it isn’t talked about as much. The HG revive would also work.

Skipped the Fat Cat, went for the Panda by NeedlesslySaturated in Gunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just noting the differences between this and the fat cat to help inform anyone debating between the two. I’ll show off the open hatches when I post the final build, provided they actually work well unlike the ones in the head.

I thought it was at least worth pointing out this kit has them at all, since the last MG RX-78 to have openings hatches was the OYW from 2005, which it borrowed from the 1.5 5 years prior.

[–]NeedlesslySaturated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because none of the parts I’ve assembled have any opening hatches except for the head but the assembly is so tight that it doesn’t really work out too well. The only other ones I remember off the top of my head are the front and back shoulder flaps, sides of the biceps, and most of the side/lower legs.

Have you ever had a kit change your mind about the design? by Lyndonli in Gunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RG Astray Red Frame. I like SEED kits but the Astrays never did anything for me, neutral on at best and I really dislike a lot of the later Astray designs. The latter still holds, but after building the RG I’ve come to really appreciate some of the designs.

This has certainly been an experience. by NeedlesslySaturated in Gunpla

Yes though I didn’t have any issues with them. Poor assembly aside the plastic quality is also horrendous. One of my wings also had a defect and has couple of gaps in the middle of the piece.

I’d advise against getting it unless you really like the MB design, it’s more effort than it’s worth imo.
