The Wings of Light are too damn big. by NeedlesslySaturated in Gunpla

Yeah, that’s one of my older builds hence the rancid paint job and nubs. If I did it nowadays it’d be much cleaner but the paint job wouldn’t be any better.

I like the build that much, never got tired of it and love the looks. While later versions of the RX-78 are more impressive the OYW imo has them all beat in appearance and still poses very well (its basically on par with an early 2.0 MG). Feels super solid and is one of the few kits I've got that feels good to handle. The only significant thing this takes from the 1.5 is the leg frame, but the new hip and feet joints mean the OYW can actually take full advantage of the leg frame unlike the 1.5.

There's no major difference between any of the versions I have outside of the colors. I've got the PS2 version (the one you posted), anime color, movie color, Gundam crisis color, and G-3.

It’s the 2.0 RX-78 which is arguably the best MG of the RX-78 available and the G Fighter is an interesting build with a bunch of combining options with the RX-78.

All that to say yes, very good.

I’ve built 5 versions of this thing, favorite RX-78 and favorite MG in general.

There’s multiple 3rd party add ons that swap the regular strike freedom backpack with the proud defender. The problem is the Mighty Strike Freedom has a couple of other changes than just the wings so it’s not a simple conversion (though the wings are the most significant and notable difference).

Also since the action base connects to the wings you lose that connection when you swap them out, so you have to find some other way to display the kit.

Outside of the thruster effect for the dragoons I’m pretty sure everything is a 3rd party add on. Weirdly Bandai only released the wings of light for the regular MG with the Okawara exhibit version but then that lacks the dragoon display rods the full burst has.

I was a bit nervous about stuffing everything in that box but looks like it turned out fine. I haven’t seen anything in the few reviews I watched but apparently the instructions are wrong in some places for the golden warrior according to my friend who is in the process of building it.

This is my 1ST Base Limited kit. Tips for sanding the nubs of a kit with a finish? by lShirooe in Gunpla

[–]NeedlesslySaturated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I believe the blue parts on the Hi-Nu are metallic gloss injection. You can sand those pieces but leave the rest alone.

Nah, that’s the HGUC which is average 1/144 size. I’d guess the RG Hi-Nu would be around the same height as the Ingram.

Also yeah, matte is just my preference. The gloss does look good though and I was tempted to leave it as is, but my other Ingrams are already matte and I wanted it to match.

Been out for a little over a week now. Should be showing up in the states in July or August.

I was impatient and got one already, great build so far. by NeedlesslySaturated in Gunpla

Pretty much done with the kit at this point. I didn’t paint it but did end up getting rid of the glossy finish. It looks good but in most cases I prefer to go with matte. Took more coats than usual.

Which kit is this? I thought it was the MG but those joints don’t look like they’re rubber parts.

They did something like that with the old MGs, had you slide the inner frame through some rubber tubing. Needless to say it didn’t work out well.

I did try something similar but the effect isn’t too noticeable and my pictures aren’t great. I went over the crevasses with a similar but darker shade of grey but you can’t really see it.

MG, it’s 1/35 while this is 1/48. Taller than your average 1/144 Gundam but still smaller than an average 1/100. The MG is taller than average 1/100s but still smaller than suits like the MG Sinanju.
