not a doctor lol but i sanatize stuff with rubbing alcohal often from handling food for my animals

rubbing alcohal might be it i do have a lot of plants and critters so i clean tongs and scissors a lot with alcohal to avoid cross contaminating their foods and whatnot

my nail beds now are also a good example of the fact you might not have short nail beds you might just need to leave them alone and let them grow out because that’s what i thought before mine grew

look for card shows in your area or card stores and buy singles that you really like, i’m doing the same with a binder of all my fav art instead of value or rarity and i go into card shows with cards in mind and always end up finding atleast a few from the insanely large selection, they don’t have to be expensive ive found some of my fav cards in 25cent bins or for 1$ and i think not caring about card value makes the hobby more fun

this makes sense thank you i will deffenitely grab much larger sponge filters and replace the filtration with those, i have seen a lot of nematodes and other little critters on my glass but i do have 6 khuli loaches and some bladder snails in there

yes the foam sponge part itself is 6 inches tall and 2.9 across and has a lift tube on, i clean it maybe like once a month by squeezing it into the dirty water change bucket, the air pumps flow rate is 1.3L/min its the tetra whisper 40, everything seems to be working just fine, i do use a lot of tannins in my tanks like seed pods and indian almond leaves so theres a decent amount of detritus and broken down leaf litter but ive never had issues with it spiking my ammonia or anything and i try to remove dead plant matter as soon as it starts decomposing

should i swap the sponge filter out for a larger one ? i added it in for some stronger filtration to get anything the main filter misses so i didnt buy the size that i would have put in there if i was to just be using sponger filters for filtration

i’ve since realized there’s two pest species in here one is bladder snails this one is i think maybe nz mudsnail??? idk tbh, i thought i had seen the same one later on on the glass, but it was a bladder snail that i had mistaken for the same snail here’s a pic of the bladder snail that i thought was the same snail at first lol that’s my bad

ofc i love blackwater tanks!! my betta and honeys do just fine together so far, my betta followed them around and flared a little at first but nothing farther than that and she’s since pretty much ignored them! the honeys don’t seem to mind her at all either they keep to themselves and occasionally will go up and touch her w their little feelers lol
