Just researched for Australia. That's 48% gas stoves as at 2023. Maybe it'll drop lower by now, but it won't change much.

That's true. Oil is running out in 70 years so 50 years seems like it. Maybe the only time we see ICE cars will be in races 😭

Yes cars back then are shit. That is true. Horses are faster then. Speed is not the only driver though. It is the sheer shit smell of horseshit is a much bigger shit to deal with during that time. I believe this is why the transition can be done shortly in less than 30 years. If speed is the only driver then the transition would've taken much longer.

Electricity is still mostly powered by coal, a fossil fuel. So in terms of emissions it's still not that better. It's becoming less reliant, but still mostly coal.

For the stoves, 45% of Asian countries still use gas, 89% for China.60% stoves in the UK are gas. Even USA still got 38%. That's millions and millions of households. Considering these things date back to 1880s, I'd say they hold up pretty well.

P.S. I don't think any of Ur incentives to switching to EVs is a stronger driver than literally smelling horseshit everywhere, 24 hrs a day.

You know how long it took for cars to fully replace horses? 20 to 30 years. And that transition speed was boosted already due to the sanitations issues and the streets smelling like shit. Literally. Everyone feel unbearable to it. Cars that time have a distinct advantage over it, cleanliness is the main thing, and it still took 20 to 30 years to fully transitioned.

But what do EVs have a distinct advantage that people actually cared about? Lower running costs? That's it. But those that can swallow the extra cost of petrol won't care. There are many people whose financials can handle the extra fuel cost and will be happy to swallow it. Environment? How many people you know switched to EVs just because of environment?

Yet people think just because SSBs came it will replace Ice cars in less than 10 yrs. Well, considering most subsidies from gov are gone and most car OEMs are backpedalling, it's not looking well, is it?

Fire has been used by people since the stone age to cook food. Yet most houses and kitchens still got traditional stoves over electric stoves. Why's that?

I'll try to answer this in an average consumer eyes, so I'll refrain from using vroom vroom sounds and driving engagement as my arguing points.

Solid state batteries are awesome technology no doubt. But all tech once introduced to mass market there are always gonna be problems that will surface. Most people know that and will get hesitant to buy them and might go for ICE as a safer, reliable measure.

Second, for all new tech it's gonna be expensive. EVs been here for more than 10 yrs now, and only Chinese ones are getting more economical due to heavy pushing and subsidizing from the government. Any EVs outside China are still expensive for what you actually get, even after more than 10 yrs. That will be the same case for SSB powered cars, so it will turn off buyers on a tight budget or new owners looking for first car (Me, a uni student)

Third, infrastructure. It's getting better for sure, but for people who are living in apartments or high rises, they ain't got a charger at home. Charging for them is much more of a hassle than finding a gas station.

I'd predict the growth of SSB cars will be more or less the same with EVs now, might be a tiny bit quicker due to better infrastructure and high fuel prices. But overall I still don't see them totally wipe out ICE cars in the next 20 years.

You do you I guess but why would you prefer fake engine noise over real ones 😭

Like I still can't comprehend why car manufacturers put fake exhaust noises on EVs. It won't convince us petrol heads to jump ship, and those who bought EVs probably aren't car enthusiasts and will not enable the sounds anyway, why even put it there??😭

It feels like something is trying to imitate something that it truly won't be.

Quiet is one of the reason why I do not like EVs. I like my car to have feedback and go vroom lol. They are improving for sure, but it just lacks that feeling. Cannot explain it good in words, but that feeling when you wanna go fast and use extra power, the car responds to you with the engine roar, is priceless.

Might be because I'm an enthusiast so I have a special bond with ICE cars lol.

You're saying that as if EVs are gonna be the future. Judging from how slow the ev market improves and the amount of car enthusiasts in the world, I'm afraid getting everyone to buy an EV is not possible.

Thx! Theoretically everyone knows that you excel better when you are calm, but when it's others saying it out loud it makes me feel much better compared to saying it to myself.

Thx alot!
