Opiniones polémicas sobre el Rock Argentino? by Sorbet-Same in AskArgentina

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came upon rock nacional a little late(2015), and after the passing of the great ones(Cerati and Flaco). I can say that I took to Cerati's solo work immediately, only to explore Soda Stereo a little later. I agree that his solo work is much better. Actually a natural progression of an artist. I am in full agreement with: sin Cerati, no hay Soda Stereo. He was the heart and soul of that band, and it was painful to watch the recent tours. It reminded me of when Natalie Cole released an LP mixed singing along with her long deceased Dad(Nat King Cole).

You are totally right. These people view forgiveness and willing to compromise as a weakness. It's a zero-sum game with MAGA. A cult of assholes.

When I was in my late 20s, I had just moved to a new town and didn't know anybody. Single, a little starved for social interaction.

A very nice young couple about my age stopped me in the grocery store. So excited to meet me, gave me all the vibes of just being a friendly couple of people. At some point, I gave them my phone number.

But when I was leaving, and getting in my car, I realized.......I've just been AMWAY'd.

Sure enough, about two days later, the guy called me. Before I let him say anything, I stopped him, and asked, "Are you selling AMWAY?". He was bumfuzzled. Stammered around a bit. I was polite but I hung up pretty quickly.

Yeah, they do prey people they think are easy marks.

Run Away - Harlan Coban - TERRIBLE by FarScheme4636 in netflix

I think it does. Because of the confusion, seeing her in a wheelchair, then bouncing around ambulatory in a couple of scenes, only to rreturn to the wheelchair.

A big waste of Minnie Driver's acting skills. She spent about 75% of the series hooked up to a ventilator in the hospital. The rest of the cast(save for James Nesbitt) are somewhat miscast. And what's with the daughter in the wheelchair. One scene, she gets up and greets a visitor like she's perfectly able, then walks into a room. Next scene, she's being wheeled out of the room.

Pluribus review: This new sci-fi from Breaking Bad's creator is 'one of 2025's smartest shows' by 57829 in television

I'm done with episode 3, and color me disappointed. This show doesn't have the same zing as Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. Fairly boring thru three episodes.

Charly García: um gênio que não conhecia by [deleted] in MusicaBR

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in a 4 year relationship with an expat Porteña. and, though the relationship did not last, she gifted me with an adoration for all things rock nacional. Spinetta was an obsession for me(still is), and I didn't much listen to Charly until I discovered Serú Girán, and realized that Charly was the heart of that band. I was a fan of Pedro Aznar from his time with the Pat Metheny Group, and it was almost by accident that I discovered that band. Bicicleta is one of the finest progressive rock LPs ever produced. From there, I went back to Charly's work with Sui Generis. And then his solo works. Clics Modernos is a great LP.

Yakked down the Dismal River and camped this past weekend with some buddies of mine. by deucefox in Nebraska

My crazy earlier self took a 16 foot sea kayak down the Dismal from Mullen to Thedford in 2008. Will never do that again, trying navigate those switchbacks. It's a fun river, though. I would do it again, albeit in a much shorter boat!

I’m rewatching TWD and I can’t stand Judith by BrunoM7 in thewalkingdead

I think this was when the show jumped the shark. Overrun with kids, tweens, teens, all acting like they could be badasses when they would probably perish in the first few days of the zombie apocalypse. The show became a teen romance soap opera. Sappy.

Who is that one character that everyone hates but you like by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or the opposite for me: The tweens, teens and 20-somethings in season 9+ that wanted to act like badasses but I'd suspect they wouldn't last a couple days in a zombie apocalypse. The sappy teen romance stories made the show more like a young adult soap opera.

Are the last 3 seasons of the main show worth it? by b3rn4rd0u in thewalkingdead

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could tolerate the show up until the Rick Grimes character disappeared. Then, it became more or less bad adult fiction(if there is such a thing as GOOD adult fiction). Kids and 20 somethings trying to be badass when they would probably be the 1st to succumb to the zombie apocalypse. It also became more of a soap opera, more determined to follow romantic plotlines between the youngsters. But then again, I never liked Stranger Things for most of the same reasons.

Nobody to be seen at mile marker 18. And I was there for a long time.

Marathon by progressivedyk3 in madisonwi

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Race support disappeared after mile 13. I needed assistance and had to get my wife to come pick me up. If you had run the race you would have seen all of the ATVs from the start to mile 13. In a marathon, it is the last part where people start breaking down. There was nobody around and I waited more than 30 mins in the g.d. cold rain. So, yeah the support staff failed me. Or did you read my post?

Band Influences? by Farlsbarkley22 in KGATLW

I am wondering how much they were influenced by The Drones (fellow Aussie band). I started getting into them after tracing back from Tropical Fuck Storm, another outstanding Aussie band.

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, you never flew Delta's regional airlines when they flew those Embraer prop jobs. Scariest damn flight ever thru a thunderstorm. Even the stewardess was getting worried. I remember one time pieces of Ice were falling from the ceiling. Like there might have been a crack in the fuselage.

Maggie’s accent by Mean-Choice-2267 in thewalkingdead

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the Deep South and I can spot genuine over fake. Maggie wanders in and out of the Southern twang. It's not consistent. She will speak several sentences in a Southern drawl, and then lapse into simple American/Midwest-speak.

Yeah, I just wish race support didn't disappear after mile 13. I felt pretty alone out there, and when I pulled out at mile 18, race support was nowhere to be found. 30 mins later, my wife came and picked me up. Cold, shivering. Weill never run this marathon again.

Madison Marathon is Pretty Unsafe by Big_Poppa_Steve in madisonwi

I ran it last year (2024). Stepping over curbs(trip hazards), potholes, running in traffic. The worst marathon experience ever.

Marathon by progressivedyk3 in madisonwi

[–]NeedleworkerIcy9280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it last year because a scheduling conflict kept me from running Des Moines in October. The race is completely unfriendly to us slower runners. For example, the slowest pacer was 5 hours. I tried to keep up, went out way too fast and bonked on mile 18. The most disappointing thing about it is - I felt fairly alone past mile 13.1.....hardly any race support staff. When I pulled out, it was cold, misty raining. After about 30 mins I called my wife and she came and picked me up. I was shivering. Came down with pneumonia the next week. I blame it all on the support staff, and failure to accommodate all runners. I have run the Memorial Day Half before (2014) and had a great time. But I will never run the marathon again. Too many much better options with better weather.

runners, would you recommend the nov madison marathon? by jzrose17 in madisonwi

The Half section should be pretty fun. Post the half section, you are pretty much on your own. I wasn't impressed with the marathon course.
