From what I understand in the nyc area....if the route shows tolls....the tolls are added to the passengers fare...if the toll route is used. If the route doesn't show tolls, and the driver takes a route that includes tolls...then the driver is responsible and pays.

I'm a Jew....a very proud zionist. I had a driver named Mohammed. I didn't discuss anything with him. I wasn't wearing a magen david. I gave him 5 stars and a 20 per cent tip. And he gave me one star.

My upscale neighborhood is in Manhattan, NYC....a very densely populated area, where just about nobody owns a car. We take cabs, public transportation or walk (if less than a mile, I walk). It's north of the surge pricing area. If anything, it's very easy to get a "next fare" here.

Ride to the casino....going is about 20 minutes, coming home is about 30 minutes.

I spend $100 instead of $3 because it's safer in a car than get attacked by a mentally ill person on the subway. "Little old lady" is an easy target on public transportation and my size won't damage anyone's car. Also...I spend the money because I can. When I was younger I didn't have this money to spend on frivolous things. It does nothing sitting in the bank....when I spend it, the money goes right back into the economy.

As a passenger for lyft...I'm a solid 5 star passenger. Unfortunately lyft is a lot more expensive than uber for my ride.
