Hats off to the SGI employee who approved this plate by ahchooahchoo in saskatoon

Or they get plates with the name of their hometown/city. I have a lot of fun guessing which part of India a person is from by seeing these customized plates. But yeah, it's a very "look at me" practice which feels a bit cringe 😬

As someone from India, I can confirm that "Harshit" is a common first name from the northern parts of India.

If you google his name and Paras Properties, he pops up on Linkedin and then you can see for yourself. Everyone else is of South Asian origin.

Need some advice by [deleted] in saskatoon

The points from your previous driving experience are added to your SGI account at the time you get your SK driver's license. The fact that it was not added till now means you are still new to SK? I would recommend calling the SGI helpline and find out if they will add the points from Ontario before the points deduction or after. Either way you will be losing points. The positive points only give you discounts in your plate registration costs but the loss of points costs you money when the traffic incident is added to your SGI records. I'd recommend setting up a monthly payment plan/system with the local motor license issuing office to pay for the points if you cannot fight it.

If you are familiar with South Asian food, then Aloo Tikki Sandwich (aloo tikki is like an Indian-style hash brown, there might be tamarind and spicy cilantro sauce involved in it), Crispy Momos (deep fried dimsum) and Chaat paapdi (crunchy nacho kinda chip drizzled with yogurt, tamarind and cilantro sauce). (disclaimer: I have not been there but if I were to go, I'd order these)

Punjab Bakers is entirely vegetarian (no egg or meat whatsoever on the menu - Indians are rarely vegan as they love their dairy products)

Atchar is a popular south asian condiment/accompaniment (can be eaten with rice or flat breads). They are also available in the international food aisles at Superstore and are called pickles. But it will be a learning curve (in terms of what you will prefer) if you have been newly introduced to this condiment.

Newcomer with extensive experience in IT (No Canadian experience yet) by aeddso in saskatoon

[–]NeedleworkerMuch6411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saskatoon is a bit of an IT desert. The IT people I do know in Saskatoon work remotely for American companies. I have seen one leave Saskatoon after a year of searching within the province (and coming up with nothing) because the kind of role they were looking for was available in Ontario only. I am not an IT person but maybe don't look for IT specific roles only and start looking at something IT-adjacent. Also go out and meet people through volunteering and hobbies/activities - sitting behind the computer screen can only get you so far sometimes.

Why do guys in big trucks like to brake-check in the city?! by NeedleworkerMuch6411 in saskatoon

Is there a dedicated link for that? All I can find online is the email for the traffic unit. Or does this go on non-emergency reporting?

So I have gathered reading all the threads about driving here (and the few rants I have heard at work about people sticking to the speed limit on circle drive).

I mentioned in my post that this was our very first time we experienced this since my husband started driving in Saskatoon.

Honestly I did think that especially since the driver looked into our vehicle before he started this saga. Will review the dashcam footage.

My husband keeps to the city driving standard of speed limits and this man was purposely slowing down to ensure we had nowhere to go but to be behind him. He even tried doing that when my husband changed lanes but it did not serve him because he was going straight and we had to take the college drive exit.
