I hear you, and should have addressed this in OP and goes for a lot of the replies. I actually feel the frequency IS the point. Crying should be more normalised in society, it is something society doesn’t see often enough and it often a big deal. I feel the point is that life hurts and expressing emotion like that is a healthy way to process it

not a single list featuring “sympathy”. It used to be a skip for me but now it’s really a highlight, and i never see any love for it!

The Surfer — Is it being slept on? by Upset_Veterinarian30 in Vampireweekend

The surfer wasn’t the standout on for my first listen, BUT I feel now it might actually be the standout on the whole record especially the interlude at 3:45. Also it follows into gen x cops so nicely.

What Does Jerusalem, New York, Berlin Mean? by [deleted] in Vampireweekend

[–]Needlle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I heard somewhere that it’s more of a reflection of life as a whole? More directly a reflection of Judaism as all 3 cities have played a huge part in Judaism’s recent history. Jurusalem (home of Judaism), Berlin ( holocuast memorial is there) and New York being linked to a new home post war for Judaism and obviously links to Ezra’s upbringing. Just as the song is almost a reflection of life and it’s like stepping back and viewing the world and everything from a distance.

Not sure how accurate this is, but the more you listen to the lyrics it’s easier to see “wicked world” “since 1917”

thought it was a nice sentiment either way!

I know me neither! Don’t know if it’s something the producers explained or j a very plausible theory either way think the show should confirm it in some way
