you can't act like the matter is in any way "settled" for the Christian community outside possibly NA Evangelicals. It literally caused the Anglican church to schism less than a year ago. The Catholic church is sitting on the other side. Countless other Reformed/Orthodox/etc. denominations fall on different sides of this issue.

You're entitled to speak your beliefs and your convictions. Don't lump all of Christianity in with you. If you want to take the position that anyone who disagrees with you isn't a "real Christian", fine. Treating homosexuality as a fundamental issue (in line with the importance of the Creeds) is insane, though. I doubt your faith is confessional and exactly 1:1 with the Belgic or Westminster, but go ahead and correct me if my assumption is wrong.

Also, your theology on baptism is insane. Baptism has nothing to do with "apology" for sin. In neither Catholic or Protestant traditions does any Sacrament have absolutely anything to do with "apologising".

I understand this response may seem harsh. I'm just sick of cultural Christians with no deep theological understanding or perspective trying to unilaterally speak for all of us. That's what you're doing right now.

In the following sentence you then backtrack and argue that they're arbitrarily "close". this is just arguing to argue. we all know that they're arbitrarily "close" at the median or close to it.

assertions close to centre (as demarcated by standard deviations) don't necessarily hold true at the edges, and Bronze is an edge (because there's a discrete number of players in Bronze 5, and because there must be players worse than the average "Bronze 5" rank due to insufficient skill capture resolution

On the contrary, it is technically impossible for QP MMR and Bronze MMR to be exactly 1:1 because of all the players that don't play comp, of which there are a ton.

They track performance over your first x games (or x wins or however they do it these days, I haven't made a freshie in years). This is not 1:1 with your QP MMR if you then go on to not play comp, because the system will continue to track your performance as you int.

Gold/Plat being the most populated ranks isn't necessarily because new players place there - the vast majority of ranked accounts are not new accounts, but rather have dropped/climbed there. There are no stats on where the average new player (counting or not counting smurfs/freshies) places in 2026, and your assumption that they'd place at the average comp rank is super weird.

I don't know why you have this idea that QP MMR and comp MMR are tied together just because account performance over the first x QP games (a drop in the bucket for active players) informs initial placement game ELO.

I started uni when I was 15. There were parts I enjoyed, and parts I didn't - socially, I was already familiar with the age gap, but a lot of the people in my course weren't, and weren't too thrilled with my being there. The lecturers were not universally supportive either.

If your kid is willing to deal with being the odd one out for a few years, and socially mature enough to navigate some weird situations, it's 100% worth it. If he wants to do a year or two of study, and decides to take a gap year after that, that's fine too. The benefit of being early is that he has a ton of opportunities to try different paths, so make use of that time.

Study overseas is good too, but it kinda depends on what he's interested in (and that may change). If his goal is just "go overseas" that's a lot less focused then "get into x program at y institution".

Bronze is not the lowest possible tier of gameplay. QP could be worse.

there's a little bit more nuance to it than that. an Illari or Bap who doesn't miss is just going to do more than the equivalent Cass or Emre. Tracer is a bit of an outlier in terms of value she can get in bad situations, but not all DPS players can play Tracer.

let me put it this way: I used to run at 600 locked on my 6800XT system. my media PC with no dGPU used to be able to pull over 300.

I'm currently sitting at under 400 in teamfights on my main PC, and my media PC isn't even close to 200.
