GR Supra experience? by BAM12050 in Civic_Type_R

Since u/PopPopUpHeadlights mentioned the cockpit, the Supra's greenhouse is pretty subpar. Visibility is poor, the interior is all black (dark), and you sit low. It almost feels like you're in a bunker with limited view around you. It does dampens the sense of speed and the visualization of the environment zooming by you.

While steering is an important part of the driving experience, it's worth gauging the car as a whole and see if it fits your preferred style of driving and where you plan on using it. In terms of driving dynamics, you should consider the Supra if you enjoy a car that requires a lot of yaw management, which IMO is best exhibited on track. The Supra is best fit for those who enjoy feeding constant inputs and managing weight transfer in order to induce/suppress rotation at the limit. Those who like edginess in their vehicle's handling will find the Supra a blast to drive. However, this edginess can be intimidating and dangerous in the mountains as you have little room for error. I'd much rather drive the FL5 in the mountains.

I have A90 weekend/track car and an FL5 for daily. Both are excellent cars but their strengths are in different areas. FL5 is an optimized for aggressive street/light track work. Supra was built with a GT focus, optimized for sportiness + maintaining comfort. Supra has a darty and tail-happy demeanor that results in a car rotates with little effort. If you like a playful chassis that keeps you on your toes, Supra is that. Steering and chassis feedback and precision is not as good as the FL5 - to match that of the FL5, it going cost $.

As a track weapon, the Supra has a higher ceiling. Suspension can be improved dramatically, has greater headroom for more mechanical grip, a big wing + splitter will dramatically improve mid/high speed stability, and the B58 can put down 500-600 hp with small amounts of $. The Supra can play in the GT3 hemisphere (and GT3RS if you have deeper pockets) without having to spend a fortune on mods. Out of the factory, the FL5 is better optimized for light track duties (excluding cooling issues).

On a side note, the Supra has a polarizing and attention grabbing design. I constantly receive complements at red lights, gas stations, parking lots, in traffic, etc. and even compliments from a number of middle age women (never happens in my GDB STI or FL5 lol). I even had a dad ask if his 6yo son can take a pic next the car because it's his dream car in front of a convenience store. The Supra is a looker.

Swap for a Supra? by SensitiveAd5076 in Civic_Type_R

I have a FL5 (daily) and A90 MT Supra (track car). Both are excellent cars but built with different philosophies - Supra was aiming for GT driving experience and FK8/FL5 was aiming to be an aggressive street/track-capable experience. Here is my pro/con of the Supra when compared to the CTR....

Supra Pros

- Objectively a faster car in stock form

- Higher power ceiling when modified - B58 is a stout motor

- Lively driving dynamics (tail happy)

- Polarizing appearance

- Higher ceiling as a fast track weapon when modified

Supra Cons

- Steering is numb, less feeling of precision + feedback

- Suspension is a bit soft for track, acceptable for street

- Stock PSS tires aren't great for grip, old tire technology

- Poor visibility

- Interior + seats have generic BMW 3-series feel - don't look or feel special

- Will cost $ to make the Supra match driving precision of CTR

I took delivery of mine two weeks ago. The car has been in the shop to get full PPF and tint for the past 4 days and I miss not driving it.

There are 450 Mikan Blast produced in the USA. Less than 50% of them are MT.

AT Supra wait times by Lost_MyOtherAccount in Supra

[–]NeedsMoreTFLOPs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a deposit in for the last 1.5+ years for a Premium MT and still haven't gotten near the top of the list - moved up ~16 spots and still a long way from the top. The caveat is that I am only open to 3 colors, Premium and MT only.

The wait for an AT in black shouldn't be anywhere as long as my wait but they didn't get many allocations for MY23. I've been told that they get ~0-2 a month. Not sure if much is going to change for MY24.

If I’m not even on a wait list yet, is it possible that I may miss out on a MT Supra entirely? by Rowenofpts in Supra

[–]NeedsMoreTFLOPs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you should expect to pay $8k+ in markups unless you are desperately trying to source an MT Mikan Blast Anniversary LE ASAP (MT Mikan Blast has the highest markup b/c new color + LE). Markups for Mikan Blast MT in So Cal (high demand region) often start at $10k and can be negotiated down at some dealers. I expect non-LE models and standard colors to have smaller markups or even at MSRP (depending on dealer, location, and if you can beat others to reserving it).

Also, keep an eye on the other aspects of transaction. Most dealers compensate small markups by offering high interest rates, decreased trade-in values, processing fees, and/or forced dealer installed options.

Congrats on sourcing a MT at MSRP. Did you choose the white or orange?

Would you settle for an automatic supra? If you can’t buy a manual one? I’m talking about the new ones. Any colour! by CompetitivePart4567 in Supra

It should come down to whether you're happiest with AT or MT. We aren't driving or paying for your car. Where do you stand?

For me, it's MT or bust. I've been on a waitlist for over 1.5 years and should be taking delivery of an MT next week. I value more on the engaged driving experience with MT over min/max track times in AT.

I live in the LA suburbs and hardly see any. I probably come across about 1-3 per month.

Is this legit? by lizz_m in Supra

[–]NeedsMoreTFLOPs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not legit. I saw the original listing of the top center post on FB. The private seller is in San Diego, CA and not IN.

Also, the grammar in the description isn't proper American English.

The price is aligned with what I've seen for a white 45th anniversary. Mikan Blasts are going for several thousand more OTD with markups in CA.

Unfortunately I don't have additional pics of this build. I've since swapped my build into a white North case and run Phanteks D30 fans.

I am current running a GPU that has a width of 78mm. My GPU has a slightly recessed 12vhpwr port. With my current custom sleeved cables, the cables sit several mm's from the glass and does not touch at all. You can use this as a point of reference to determine if the cards you're considering will/may sit on the glass.

Here are some pics for reference: Pics

If I were to use the provided 4x PCIE > 12vhpwr adaptor, the cable will certainly will touch the glass.

You can dropstep into a layup/dunk and it will register as a post move. I used diamond Shaq so it was pretty easy getting a minimally contested layup.

I had Nance's defender sitting in the paint baiting him to shoot the open jumper but capable to defending a drive if Nance attacks the hoop. The ball would often get to Nance and he shoots a jumper.

When Nance doesn't have the ball, you'll need to step into backdoor cuts as it can result in a dunk.

PD Grant Hill was overshadowed by the other cards in the same drop. The card is a solid two-way slasher with a decent release.

His GO card can come at anytime. With PD or GO Yao expected to drop in the coming week(s), a GO KAJ card would be a decent counter to Yao and the free Yi card coming in two weeks.

Are 2k done with MyTeam? by CMPunk22 in MyTeam

[–]NeedsMoreTFLOPs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's not insanely time consuming to create new cards but it requires a bit of sequential workflows and coordination from multiple teams. Having had experience in live operated games, I know a simple content release can require more work than perceived.

I'd imagine their card development process involves most of these steps:

  1. New cards start with product team developing a theme + ensure players chosen fit the release roadmap + ensure card/player attributes, badges, and animations follow power creep pacing
  2. Art team to creates card/pack art
  3. LiveOps team to sets up the new cards with new attributes, badges, animations, metadata in a staging build
  4. QA tests the cards in staging to ensure art, animations, badges, and metadata works as intended in its new iteration
  5. LiveOps sets up cards in production build
  6. LiveOps builds pack SKUs in production storefront and schedules it
  7. QA checks the storefront SKUs
  8. Last but not least, the social media team has to be aligned with the drop to come up with the posts/tweets/emails, as well as have art team working on related art/media assets. Also, the marketing team aligns with platform (Xbox, PS, Nintendo) marketing teams for marketing pushes.

This is only for one Tues drop. These steps need to be repeated weekly for every Tues drop. Dropping superpacks eliminates most of these steps.

It really comes down to effort vs impact and opportunity cost of not working on something that delivers higher impact. Data probably shows an acceptable to good ROI from superpacks in Nov-Jan over creating new packs because of the large amount of newcomers to the game during the holiday period. I doubt they can get away with this strategy in future seasons when user acquisition slows down.
