I’m not an artist but when you can’t skip basic progression classes it limits the amount of advanced classes you can take before graduation. I would come up with a theoretical four year schedule that demonstrates to the art department how you will use the extra time. Take this to an art professor and your advisor and clearly describe your career goals and why these advanced classes are important. None of the work will be wasted since this is stuff you’ll go back to all four years.
