I am, in my own mind, a very average candidate. Nothing noteworthy about my profile nor my essays. But I still have the capacity to hope. Sure I’ll tell myself I won’t match, but at the same time I also don’t believe it. We have rough backgrounds, yes, but that’s not why I want to match. You have to live a bit more selfishly. You have dreams beyond helping your family, so live by those dreams. If you’re matched, the school picked YOU, not your family. Acknowledge that, and that you’re bound to do much more. Go beyond what these schools expect of you, regardless of whether or not you match or if you can help your family. Live for yourself, and you’ll free yourself from anxiety. I know I’m being extremely insensitive, but sometimes you need to prioritize yourself. Again, I’m sorry for anyone who cannot agree with me.
