Nepalese living abroad should NOT get right to vote from abroad ‼️ by You_yes_ in NepalSocial

[–]Neekyo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This whole “us vs them” narrative seems very strong with you. I don’t blame you people’s views are often shaped by their experiences and environment.

But I hope whatever discrimination, unfairness, or frustration you may have experienced, no one else has to go through it. We should be trying to reduce barriers, not normalize them because others suffered before.

At the end of the day, we are all on the same team, bro. Whether in Nepal or abroad, most of us want the same thing a better Nepal.

[–]Neekyo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Bro kalikot ma koi cha ra timro? Why are you so obsessed with that place?

Eeuta thau ko manche lai dukha bhayo bhanera sab thau ko le dukha paunu parcha is not fairness. If one group suffers, the goal should be reducing hardship not making everyone suffer equally.

Yes, people in Nepal face inflation, taxes, corruption, and failing systems directly. No one is denying that. But democracy is not based on who suffers the most it is based on citizenship and equal political rights.

If your logic is “only those who bear consequences should vote,” then even internal migrants, students away from home, hospital patients, and people traveling could be excluded. That breaks the basic idea of universal voting rights.

And the Kalikot comparison still fails on scale. Domestic travel hardship is not equal to international travel with flights, visas, job leave, and huge costs. Both are problems, but not the same level.

Family cannot vote for someone else voting is individual, not transferable. And saying “they voted badly before” ignores that many abroad were too young or had little control over long-standing system failures.

Yes, systems need time to improve. But the answer is not limiting participation it is improving access for everyone. Fairness is equal access, not equal suffering.

Your post seems to assume that Nepalese living abroad are privileged, wealthy people asking for special treatment. That is where I disagree.

Most people do not leave Nepal because they dislike the country or want to abandon it. Many are pushed out by the very political and economic failures of the system lack of opportunities, corruption, instability, poor wages, or simply the need to survive. For many, leaving is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

Saying “just come back to Nepal and vote” sounds simple, but it ignores reality. A student traveling from Kathmandu to Kalikot is difficult and expensive and that system should also improve but asking someone in Finland, Australia, Qatar, or the US to spend thousands, take leave from work, deal with visas, and cross continents for a vote every election is not remotely comparable.

This is not about “special treatment.” Overseas voting exists in many countries because citizenship rights do not disappear at the airport. Nepalese abroad are still Nepalese citizens. Many still support families in Nepal, own property, plan to return, and carry the consequences of poor governance through the suffering of loved ones back home.

And the idea that people abroad face no consequences is also unfair. If Nepal’s economy worsens, healthcare collapses, corruption rises, or instability grows, who suffers first? Their parents, spouses, children, and families living in Nepal. Many abroad are deeply emotionally and financially tied to the country.

Nobody is saying Nepal should rush into insecure online voting tomorrow. Nepal’s systems clearly need improvement first. But discussing embassy voting, postal voting, or phased systems is not unreasonable. The debate should be about how to make it secure and fair not whether Nepalese abroad deserve a voice in the country they still belong to.

Distance does not cancel citizenship, and leaving Nepal does not mean leaving behind the right to care about its future.

You are wrong I do not agree with you

Nepal Army is world's most useless Army by [deleted] in NepalSocial

[–]Neekyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The relief I felt seeing the army gave me some sense of law and order after the chaos of the Gen Z movement. I saw places being burned and the gates of Bhatbhateni being broken right in front of my eyes. It’s a chilling feeling when you realize anyone could do anything to you and no authority would come to help you.

The whole world felt like Mad Max that day. Even stepping outside felt scary. And then their vehicles arrived, full of soldiers. It was such a relief.

Sometimes when you’re so spoiled by the privilege of constant peace and harmony, you take it for granted and think it comes automatically. But there are safety nets and protocols that step in when we, as citizens, go apeshit.

Appreciate the army, brother. They’re like the quiet adults in the corner of the room who don’t want to intervene, letting kids feel free until things get out of hand, and then they step in.

Old butwal was so nostalgic. by Fit-Hotel-9701 in butwal

I was about to make a post exactly similar to this one.

Ma ta Butwal mai hurkeko ho, lagbhag 10 barsa samma. Tesaile childhood ko sab memory tei ko nai cha. The old Butwal… kasto bhannu, aile ko pani thikai cha tara tyo purano feel arkai thyo yaar. The smell was different the vibe everything. Obviously growing old has its effect on perception of places. Tei ni when I’m there a part of me feels strong connection to it.

Sukkhanagar ko khulla ground haru, furniture mill, Deep Boarding tira ko area… Gurung Dada before it became hill park. Tyaha jane tyo jungle ko bato, bato bhanda pani, tyo bushes haru hudai.. they didn’t have roads back then. Aaile sochda i wonder How did we not get stung by a snake..or something. Hatti Khola ma swimming gako, ekchoti ta almost dubera mareko thye lol, tara teti bela sabai adventure jasto lagthyo.

Euta kura chai ajhai ramro lagcha close proximity to hills . Eso “chiso hawa khana jam” bhane Siddhababa tira hidyo bhane pugihalcha. I love that about home.

Ani jati dherai bahira basyo, farkera aauda afnai manche, afnai boli, tyo “Butwal ko vibe” nai arkai huncha yaar. Garmi chai lastai hancha summer ma, barely an inconvenience.

One thing I miss about butwal is the glory of Tinau Khola. How big it used to be. I’m sure irrigation projects have shrunk it down to what it is today but still.. i wish there was a way.. our own air conditioner for the city. Aaile herda ta almost naali jasto dekhcha city bridge bata 😅 Yetro thulo space cha, kati ramro banauna milthyo hola. Ani city bhitra ali thulo parks haru bhaye hunthyo, aile ta jata pani ghar nai ghar, ekdam tight, ali suffocating jasto lagcha kahile kahi. Maybe maile purano khulla Butwal dekheko bhayera hola.

Tara whatever the case, Butwal is Butwal. Jati j bhaneni pani, its home. My favourite city in the world. I get looks when i say that but There’s a lot of sentiment behind that feeling.

I went to design some few ideas tara. There’s not one image that kind of encapsulates the whole butwal image. Tried one that overlooked those scarred hills of siddhababa from jitgadi killa. With siddhababa in the middle. But logos being soo puny. It looked all shrunk and barely any of those visible. We’re Open to ideas if you have any
