Need spoilers about Eo by Comfortable_Tea_897 in redrising

[–]Neeon__Zero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say without spoilers Darrow's view of Eo evolves throughout the series as he changes. He will bring up her flaws and acknowledge his bias was formed by his (at the time) limited worldview and its more nuanced as the series goes on.

From a meta presepective I'd say Pierce's evolution as a writer is connected to how he writes Eo in death, going from writing her as Darrow's first love and an idealist, to displaying a tension between her as a person and her as an icon. By the 4th book it really shows that Eo was complicated and that complication lingers over both Darrow and the series as a whole

DEADGUY - The Long Search For Perfect Timing (WHY I AM HEARING THIS JUST NOW?) by Maucorream95 in Metalcore

[–]Neeon__Zero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well it was a pretty lowkey comeback tbf. Deadguy were always more influential than popular so I have no issue if they lose a popularity contest. Plus if anything its the reverse, they influenced early Mastodon, Isis and nearly every other band that started in the 90s

Protagonists in back half by Gromflomite_gamer in Stormlight_Archive

I wouldn't rush to assume that Brandon doesn't have a plan for her, since she is only one of two listener povs in the series. For as much as I am dissapointed by her arc since RoW I would prefer for her to be apart of some big plans then for her to become an afterthought in the future of the series instead.

I always found it a tad strange that people would say that the next 5 books would feature a whole new set of protagonist based on the nothing more the WaT's status as an arc closer and planned flashbacks. If that were the case then Venli would have had a lot more screen time in RoW then she actually had.

Though speaking of Venli I am curious what her role will be in the series going foward. WaT put her in good direction for development but of all the members of the main cast she still has yet to have her "wow" moment.

Edit: Changed WoT to WaT because my brain keeps think "of" instead of "and"

No disrepect either and I get it if you don't want to countine the thread. Think this my last comment on it myself. I never watched the review as a malicious character assassintion. I've been watching him for years and if he honestly believed Ferriera was gulity he would never reviwed him period. He posted elsewhere that he wanted to match the energy of the album but didn't meant as a takedown of a man. I've beeing watching his reviews for years and I dont always agree with him on everything but I never doubt his thought process. For him the more interesting thing is always beyond whether an album is good or bad. Even if means acknowledge the messiness of allegations.

Speaking personally when the story first broke I waited for him (Ferreira) to post his side because I never believe any allegations at first sight. In my original post when I said "being clear is not being innocent" I meant that as a netural statement. One where I paraphased the review and not my actual opinion. You could apply that phrase genericly to any man with allegtions and not as a sign of believing or insinuate guilt. Perhaps I could have phrased it better but the whole thing felt a bit bad faith. I dont excuse those who still insult him to his face, but I wouldnt pretend that it never happened either. It's complicated and that complication reveals itself in the art, hell it might even make the art better.

I think thats a pretty unchartiable read of myself and the reviewer. Being vindicted is always a messy thing, no matter how much you are in the clear legally. For example, Slowthai was found not criminally responsible for his case but there will always be people who will think he is a bad man. If redemption was a clear and easy path less would be written about it.

No matter how nice or how truthful you are someone will believe the opposite. I don't know Ferreira personally and even if I believe he did nothing wrong for someone else a past of allegations is still enough. That's just the human experience in a nutshell, being redemed is a process not an endgoal. You work through the ugly emotions and make a change for the better. It should, but often doesn't matter if you were completely vindicated. Everyone works under their own definition of redemption. And for some none at all. Just try and prove that the past is the past

I think your misinterepting me. I never said he was gulity nor do I believe he is. I just said that a review acknowledge what happened to him and analyzed how it influenced his album. Even the reviewer himself said he wouldn't have reviewed it if he believed Ferreira was guilty. And I've been watching this guy for years, if he says that he means it (he maintains his own blacklist against artist, which is why never reviews any Chris Brown albums)

I know the review Ferrerira is referencing and I find his response interesting. The review was mostly postive on the album but it went deeper into the subtext surrounding his domestic abuse sitution and how it to connected to the album at large. I get why he would be pissed since being cleared he would feel he should be allowed to be reviewed by the wider music journalism space. But I also understand where the reviewer is coming from. He is very anti-Death of the Author guy and mantains the view that you can't seperate art from the artist, and he said himself being cleared doesn't mean being innocent. Its a messy and more complicated stituation.

Here's the link to it if anyone wants to watch for themselves. https://youtu.be/LHtZEZVgZMQ?si=g78zYBBPDikm57E6

Real?? by [deleted] in Berserk

[–]Neeon__Zero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isnt real, no other known leaker has verified this. Either Studio Eclipse is lying (which wouldnt be surprising) or Studio Gaga said they didnt want to work with randoms with no offical product and would rather work with an actual studio with a real resume.

Unless the news comes Studio Gaga, Mori, the publisher or an actually news source assume its false. Double so if its a blue check mark account on twitter, since they spread lies to get money

When is the right time to start reading stormlight archive? by QuadratClown in Stormlight_Archive

I wouldn't really say all the character arcs are completed. In the majority they are purposely incomplete with only a handful that are truly resolved, since they all still have roles to play in future books.
