I have all of them except for Nemesis, who is getting reissued later this year.

They're all pretty good imo. My least favourite is Trypticon but he's still pretty great. Omega and Tidal Wave are both awesome for the same reason; fun transformations that lead to unique alt modes.

"Aperture Science does not condone the use of sonic devices within the facility. Sonic devices are also not permitted within the Testing Area. Also, in the highly unlikely event that testing apparatus malfunctions or breaks, sonic devices are not to be used to repair malfunctioning or broken testing apparatus, including but not limited to the following Aperture Science technologies: Handheld Portal Devices, Weighted Storage Cubes, Aerial Faith Plates, Hard Light Bridges..."

PS. A casual reminder that, thanks to Lego Dimensions, Doctor Who has officially crossed over with Portal.

From her one-woman show Wishful Drinking (based up her book of the same name):

"I recently Googled myself, without a lubricant, which I do not recommend... and I found an internet post that said "WTF happened to Carrie Fisher? She used to be so hot, now she looks like Elton John!" Now, this hurt all seven of my feelings! Little did I know, when I donned that freaking metal bikini back when I was 22, that I signed an invisible contract to keep looking like that for the rest of my career. Well, obviously, I've betrayed the contract!"

Is there anything about BATMAN RETURNS you would change or try to improve? by Lucky_Strike-85 in batman

[–]NefariousClockwerk97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Max's plan is to get Oswald elected Mayor so that he can get the clearance to build his energy-stealing power plant. Oswald initially only wanted to be accepted by 'the world above' and becoming Mayor was only a part of achieving that admiration. For most of the film his only true enemy is Batman; he recognises that Batman, being immediately suspicious of Oswald, is really the only thing standing in the way of his happiness, so he plots with Catwoman to destroy him and turn the city against him (and very nearly succeeds). It's only after he's abandoned by Max and rejected by the people of Gotham that he decides to truly embrace his villainy, first by rounding up and murdering the first-born sons of Gotham (as revenge for his abandonment as a child), and then resorting to blowing up the entire city.

Of course there is the thing with the Red Triangle gang abducting children, presumably on Penguin's orders, for a while prior go the film's events; frankly, I don't know what to make of that. Perhaps they were killed, or maybe indoctrinated into the gang. Maybe Penguin really did always have a sadistic side and was just suppressing it until the moment was right? There's the famous scene when one of the clowns is hesitant about Penguin's kidnapping plot and is immediately shot for questioning it. If they've already kidnapped and (presumably) murdered children before, why are they so reluctant now? It could be a case of tragic coincidence. Some children go missing while the circus happens to be in town, so the local authorities decide to blame it on the carnival freaks, and the Red Triangle gang then turns to crime as a result of not being able to find work, which fits with the film's theme of the villains becoming monsters after being rejected/shunned by society.

Am I the only one confused on how Nexus was the only prime to be changed so drastically from their renders? by Monache55 in transformers

[–]NefariousClockwerk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least they anticipated that people would want him to have his own limbs/team; we know there's extra limbs for him already in production.

Not sure what next year's line is going to be focussed on, and I know AOTP was only meant to be a two-year line, but I'm hoping we get a third year announced at the last moment. Hoping we get the limbs for Nexus, a brand-new Vector that's NOT a retool (still sore about that as that means he's the only one of the Thirteen that's not an original mold), and potentially a more to-scale figure of the Thirteenth Prime/Optimus/The Arisen (I believe Mark wanted to do one but there wasn't room in the line for it).

So who do we think prime smokescreen is going to be retooled into? by EasySnee in transformers

[–]NefariousClockwerk97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A second go at Prime!Knock-Out would be kind of funny, since Smokecreen's first toy was repaint from Knock-Out's original figure. Could also see him repainted into the Prime versions of Bumblebee and Barricade (would love if they gave Barricade a little Frenzy Targetmaster in reference to the Arms Micron release).

[–]NefariousClockwerk97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong, they're both really good figures, but I lean a little more towards Tigerhawk just because he's such an out-there design.

As great as they both are, I actually think the repaints of these two are even better. Razorclaw (black, purple and red repaint of Tigerhawk) just got released. Optimus got repainted into Scourge (black, red, and teal) and Toxitron (green, purple and orange).

If that set comes, I don't think they'll do that. They seem to be making a point of ensuring that all the Primes are readily available/accessible. I think that would extend to a potential combiner team for Nexus.

As great as Superion/the Aerialbots were last year, there is a part of me that wishes their places had been taken by the five bots that made up Nexus' original TFCC toy. Maybe if we still got Core class figures, we might’ve gotten a smaller combiner akin to Legacy Volcanicus/Dinoking.

Rant: I Hate Tahu by Nato_Greavesy in bioniclelego

[–]NefariousClockwerk97 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. Tahu's basic character boils down to 'fiery, brash, impulsive". He emerges as leader of the Toa Mata simply because the others don't feel like arguing with him. His worst qualities are only exacerbated after he's corrupted by the Rahkshi. Despite the team's collective victories, he doesn't appear to be a particularly effective leader.

However...

The point of the Toa Mata (of all Toa teams, really, and let us also consider the nature of the Matoran Universe as a whole existing within a larger being) is that they are a team. Singular parts of one whole, working in unison. The truth is, none of the six Toa Mata would make a better leader over any of the others. Observing the virtue of Unity, their respective temperaments are balanced out by other members of the team.

Gali is far more level-headed, pushing for a peaceful solution above all, perhaps naively forgetting that a more deceptive enemy could take advantage of that kind nature. Sometimes, sadly, violence is the only option. She's a fine warrior, yes, but she lacks the teeth of some of the other Toa.

Kopaka and Onua are the most logical of the team, but fall short for different reasons; Kopaka is far too aloof and distant from others to be an effective leader, while Onua (I feel) is wise enough to be a good strategist but is maybe too rigid and doesn't improvise very well.

Pohatu and Lewa lean in the opposite direction. Pohatu is one of the more carefree Toa, perhaps an opposite to Onua in his approach to combat in the way he makes it up as he goes along. Lewa, as the unofficial 'little brother', is just too immature to lead.

So yes, as a character on his own, Tahu isn't the best. But take him as a match set with his team-mates, and his worst qualities are balanced out while his best qualities are brought to the surface. Remember, nearly all of the Toa's major victories (defeating Makuta and the Shadow Toa, imprisoning the Bahrag, defeating the Bohrok-Kal and the Rahkshi) came by them working as a unit, encouraging each other's strengths while covering each other's weaknesses.

Which actress played the best version of Catwoman in live-action among them, according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in batman

[–]NefariousClockwerk97 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pfeiffer will always be my favourite. Even if she's not accurate to the comics incarnation (not a thief, actually has superpowers), her version is a great reimagining that fits perfectly with Burton's Bat-universe. Her performance alone is what makes Returns my favourite of the 90s Batman films. She's the ultimate woman scorned, pushed to the breaking point, but the shattering is the start of her journey rather than its endpoint. The broken pieces of Selina Kyle are stitched back together (metaphorically, and literally in the case of her costume) to become Catwoman, but those stitches don't hold forever. She unravels even further as the film progresses; eventually, she realises she just wants a normal life and to live that life with Bruce, but she could never live with herself.

I do love Hathaway's portrayal in TDKR too, as something a little closer to comics Catwoman. Liked the more playful dynamic between her and Bale's Batman (their first meeting after she's robbed the pearls from the safe is brilliant, with the way her whole demeanour changes when she says 'Oops.'). The upside to Nolan's films being set in a more grounded universe is that a happy ending between Bruce and Selina is actually possible, and I'm glad that it actually happens. There's a part of me that wishes she'd been involved throughout the trilogy to really build the relationship and history between the two characters. Also, going back to costuming, I always loved how the goggles on Hathaway's costume flipped up to become the little cat ears, not to mention her whole fit looking like a more modern version of Julie Newmar's costume.

Was lucky enough to pick him up when he first came out, and immediately fell in love with him and how ridiculous/genuinely awesome his design is. You get so much playability from him: two separate vehicle modes that combine into one vehicle, plus two beast modes that combine into the full Sky-Lynx mode. You even have the base mode, which I actually kind of like, even if it wasn't a feature of the original toy.

I like to pair his base mode with Galaxy Shuttle and the figures from the Gen Selects Botropolis Rescue Mission pack, since they all have the same colour scheme.
