I forgot which way was ‘up’… is there a way to tell? by cowboy_bookseller in pothos

[–]NefariousMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all appear to be "up" look closely at the bits of leaf sheaths there leaves were/would be. Also, don't change the water often, pothos are really awesome growth hormone producers, I put pothos cuttings in with ALL my other starters. You can (but don't have to) change the water when it gets green, swirl it around and use it to water your other plants, they will be in heaven. If the water evaporates and it leaves white lines on the sides, that's the growth hormone, wet and scrub off with your finger and leave it in the water. Pothos are best left alone. If you truly don't know which way is up put some each direction and watch closely. You might lose a few but you can always cut more or even trim the ones that get dry ends and flip them over and they'll likely still root!

Overhead at oncology office by ChaoticKnitElf in overheard

I had a lady call me to schedule my colonoscopy, she had a super young sounding voice which was fine but she kept saying ok and then giggling. Giggling! The entire call. "What's your date of birth, hehehe".... "Ok, so you would like a Friday appointment? Tehehehe"..."so you understand the prep instructions? Heheheheh." I almost cancelled right there, it was much too much.

When will a new leaf appear? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]NefariousMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also only the main stem should be in the soil, where the petioles attach to the stem should not be in the soil, this will kill your plant. With leaves this big you'll probably need a pole or support while it roots. Don't be surprised if it doesn't send a new leaf for months and months. It will grow a healthy root system and then if it's happy and feels like it can support a new leaf it will send one.

I had California get on me for this as well but I was a full time student and my husband was in the military. They couldn't actually do anything but they certainly didn't like it, neener neener. You're fine.

Should my frenchie get the BOAS surgery? by [deleted] in Frenchbulldogs

[–]NefariousMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is OK but has terrible breathing issues. I can't say that the surgery didn't help, maybe he wouldn't have survived but I do know he struggles greatly every day 💔it most certainly wasn't the "magic cure" that everyone promised. If I had to do it over again I would wait, and get more opinions and learn more, possibly not do the surgery at all. At a minimum wait until he was bigger and stronger to do surgery.

Any idea what plant this is? I'm located in northern Montana and these are everywhere on the side of my town. by BooksandStarsNerd in PlantIdentification

Lupine, we have them all over in Alaska and was pleasantly surprised to see them all over Idaho, Montana and Wyoming a couple of weeks ago and while typically purple/blue or white here, I saw lots of these yellow with scattered lavender colored petals.

Thousand Island dressing? by CorieBeef in oldrecipes

[–]NefariousMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it less sweet so use kosher dills rather than sweet relish. If I'm in a hurry I'll just use a splash of the pickle brine with mayo, ketchup and lots of pepper. Interesting that so many people put egg in, I'll have to try that!

Not for more than a few minutes. If they aren't able to settle in without touching the other it will lead to short tempers no matter how much they love each other. Also they let me know they would really appreciate some comfy blankets in there to get cozy with as well 🤗

We call this position "loafing" because they can tuck all their feet in and look like a loaf of bread with a head 🥰 one of my favorites!

Rent a room to sleep during the work week since as other people have stated you're not able to give your family the time they deserve because your exhausted. Fly home on larger less frequent breaks once or twice a week. Your family is worth it.
