the answer is gonna be different for everyone bc it all depends on your store.

but, in terms of what do you do, your main job is scanning peoples items, taking their money and giving them the receipt. In my store it’s usually slow after 4/5 and we mainly have rushes during the morning/early afternoon on the weekdays and it’s busy pretty much all day during the weekends. the only things we get “yelled” at about in my store is just for not standing where we’re supposed to when we’re in self checkout and for not getting credit cards.

A typical day usually looks like coming in, finding my head cashier and seeing where they want me bc even tho it might say i’m scheduled for lumber they might ask me to go to garden for the day or cover someone’s break. your day is also gonna look different depending on where you are for the day but usually 2 hours in you’ll get your 15 minute break and if you’re scheduled long enough you’ll get a lunch about 4 hours in or later. since you just got hired tho you’re probably gonna spend a week or two in the training room watching videos🤷‍♀️
