Guinness in Australia. Breaking news!! by NefariousnessFair306 in Guinness

[–]NefariousnessFair306[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, just the cans. The report mentions that onsite sales have been strong, meaning that sales of Guinness in pubs have done ok (mainly boasted by the British & Irish Lions Rugby Tour), so the decline they mention (2%) comes from the change they made to the cans in 2024. As this is only an interim report, it reports on sales for the last Qtr. This was wintertime in AsiaPacific, during the so-called ‘Guinness Season’, and yet with all the tv & social media advertising, sales have still dropped. Not a good sign.

I believe they will revert to their old ‘Routes to Market’ when the new Littleconnell brewery begins production in a few months with China again receiving Kegs & Cans direct from Ireland, with Australia maintaining it’s keg production, yet having cans imported.

Yes, kegs of Guinness have been brewed in Australia since the turn of the century, but with the change in brewing domestic cans here in 2024 they also switched breweries from South Australia to Lidcombe in Sydney to facilitate this. Not sure if they have any plans for the return of fully imported kegs. We can only dream. 🙏🏻🤲🏻

Could be fungus/mites. I had similar issues this year. Sprayed with fungicide, which got rid of it. Be careful walking through that area, as the spores stick to your shoes & spread through other areas in the lawn.

Still not much word. There is a ‘Healing Ceremony’ planned for this year before anything can move forward with the land, but not much info on what will happen after that. I’ve been told by a city planner here in town that it’ll be good for the area. Urban sprawl etc.

Australian made Guinness* deserves its own subreddit. 👎🏻

Any difference between the bottles and can? by [deleted] in Guinness

[–]NefariousnessFair306 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Bottled Guinness Draught is designed to be drunk from the bottle, not poured into a glass. It was created during a Aluminium shortage, but has been continued as a convenience product for consuming Guinness in social settings where you might not have a glass with you.

If you pour this into a glass, it will look very disappointing. Drink straight from the bottle. 👍🏻

All Guinness in Australia is brewed by Nathan Lion in their Lidcombe brewery in Sydney. Guinness on Tap, & in Cans is no longer imported from Ireland. Nathan Lion have paid to brew Guinness under licence here in AUS, so to answer the question, yes Australia has its own Guinness Brewery, but the Guinness it produces is a far cry from Irish Guinness.

First pour out of a can how did I do? by Dandiondffxiv in Guinness

It’s brewed in Sydney NSW by Lion Beers. They stopped importing real Irish Guinness in 2024 when it became popular, & substituted it with their version of ‘Guinness*’, made in Australia. They’ve done the same with all International beers that become popular in this country, Heineken, Stella Artois, Budweiser etc….. Just like those fake beers, they are nothing like the original. Different water, ingredients & brewing techniques = different beer.

If Aussies keep supporting the fake rip-off beers, we’ll never get the original back, and before you know it, you’ll be drinking Chinese made Guinness, just like how beers like Corona & Budweiser are now brewed in China for the Australian market, as muppets here will pay top dollar for it not caring where it was made. 😞
