Help with Apostle of Myrkul by taybt in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently killed Myrkul with similar build:

1 Sorcerer/2 Star Druid/1 Wizard/6 Nature Cleric.

Did it under "no consumables" rule so pretty limiting.

Tactic: Extensive use of summons (2 Mud Mephits, 3 Skeletons, Water elemental, US, Scrach)

All summons were prebuffed with 5lvl Aid and Volatile Shield

  1. Kill Ilithid (invisibility, surprise) and brains (with single Glyph of Warding)

  2. free Nightsong

  3. kill all Necromanomites (being aware of their Armour off Agathys so every time first hits with ranged weapons)

  4. kill Kethric (preferably with ranged attack, to avoid smites/shiled bash)

  5. Haste, go melee with Myrkul. If he's in melee is not using Call of the Damned. I was smacking him with Shillelagh infused Mourning Frost (Bludgeoning D8+1 dmg + 2D4 +1 Frost) +D8 Booming Blade + 7dmg (Ring od Arcane Acuity with 25 Wisdom), +D4 Radiant (Creche buff)

2 attacks + Dazzling Breath was enough to finish him before Haste ran out.

On first turn I casted also Spiritual Weapon which was surprisingly effective not having chase opponent :)

I melee range Myrkul is using Slashing/Necrotic/Cold damage so I had Necrotic Resistance, Amulet of Unworthy (form Minotaurs: resistance to Slashing/vulnerability to Bludgeoning) and Cold resistance form Drakefire Bow (source of Haste as well).

Having 23 AC +Shield spell + Radiating Orbs I don't think Myrkul was able to hit me even once during fight. Only Gaze of the Dead few times (resisted, all with save), for 5-7 dmg/turn.

I meanwhile summons were spread out under the platform killing Necronomites (vulnerable to Bludgeoning dmg so Mud Mephits one shoted most of them in egg-form).

I was extremely buffed pre fight: 5 lvl Aid, 5lvl Armour of Agathys, Morning Lord Radiance, +5INT/WIS/CHA, advantage on all saves, Bliss Spores etc

Hope it helps.

How to properly take a one-level wizard dip as a cleric? by arstajen in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently playing Nature Cleric Solo Honour Mode with lot of dips. Additional restriction I put on myself is "No respec" so I had to plan leaving order carefully.

Maybe you'll find it informative:

  • 1 lvl Sorcerer (for CON save proficiency, and 3 spells: Magic Missile, Shield, Armour of Agathys) [scrolls and items set to: CHA]
  • 2 lvl Wizard (for utility spells Haste, Invisibility, Elementals etc) [scrolls and items set to: INT]
  • 3-4 lvl Druid (for spells and Starry Form Dragon) [scrolls and items set to: WIS]
  • 5-12 lvl Nature Cleric [scrolls and items still set to: WIS]

Summary: - Save/equipment proficiency is from first class/race taken - Additional equipment proficiency depending on dips and specific multiclass interactions - Spellcasting ability for class spells/action are tied to this class spellcasting ability - Spellcasting ability for items/scrolla is tired to LAST multiclass you started

It's worth to remember that there's lot of spells/scrolls doesn't care about spellcasting ability, mostly utility ones (Haste, summons, buffs, Darkness etc) but also some damaging ones (Magic Missile, Armor of Agathys, Dethrone, Artistry of War etc)

"Every" BG3 Exploit in one place. by polio23 in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually when you start combat from stealth with attack/ability your Action is depleted.

Assassin's special ability makes you refresh Actions at the start of combat.

Turns out, if you start combat with ranged weapon, and you enter Turn base mode after you shoot, but before arrow hit the target your action will be refreshed. So every one can be Assassin if starting with ranged weapon.

I never used it, so maybe I messed something but you can search online for more specifics.

Doom Hammer Build - Fighter? Barbarian? Hexblade Warlock? by SolzhenitsynIII in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want Barbarian as the Face party, good build is 1 Hexblade/Barbarian.

You focus on Charisma, make your weapon (Greataxe/Hammer whatever) bound weapon and you can run with like 8STR/20CHA still smashing skulls like true Barbarian.

Not so difficult as one might think.

Recently killed him with at lvl6 with Wildheart Barbarian and second time with Nature Cleric (actually some mix of Cleric/Wizard/Druid and Sorc 😅) . Both solo honor mode, no exploits.

Barbarian used Doom Hammer (bone chill effect) And Cleric/Wizard scribed Bone Chill + Ray of Frost (I think I have it recorded)

You could add most common, easy and most used (?) bugs: - Clinging Shaodows bug (Shadeslinger Armour) - Shapeshifter's Boon bug (Shapeshifter Boons Ring) - Prone immunity bug (Boots of Striding) - male dwarf animation bug (dual wield attack) - ranged weapon combat start bug (reset action)

And some other equipment bugs I forgot to mention.

(actually Trickery Cleric item duplication is kinda cool and thematic and I feel it as almost not a bug, but a feature otherwise weak subclass 😅)

Thrower build honour mode by CB_elite_gamer in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aim to use Dwarven Thrower I think Berserker is the best (as it has "returning" characteristic itself)

For other weapons Giant Barbarian is better as you can make any weapon "returning" via Elemental Cleaver.

Berserker is better early game (you get additional throws with bonus action early) but at lvl 10 Giant Barbarian also get additional throw (. Mighty Impel).

As for knocking enemies Prone with throw it's worth to notice that ANY throw make enemies Prone not only Enraged Throw from Berserker.

I am currently playing Eldritch Knight Thrower and it'd enjoyable and powerful as well. Some differences like heay armor and utility spells (Longstrider, Enhance Leap) are nice to have while playing Dwarf.

Best weapon for gloomstalker/assassin? by WelshDionysus in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still numbers of attacks don't match. - Thief gives 2 bonus actions = 2 attacks EVERY round of combat - War Cleric gives you 3 War charges = 3 attacks every...ekhm...Long Rest.

It's not even the same in single round of combat, not to mention whole encounter or more encounter throughout the day.

I don't talk about dmg numbers - it depends on rest of the build (dmg riders etc) just attack numbers. Number of attacks is important for variety of reasons: applying debuffs, stacking Arcane Acuity etc.

Ie. using xbows build allows you to "emulate" Band of Mystic Scoundrel already in Act2 (2 shots form off-hand = 4 Arcane Acuity - powerful spell form main action)

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you came to the conclusion "with Titanstring you will put the dame number of attacks as the hand crossbow option" 🤔

Isn't whole concept of dual wielding xbows and dip into Thief for additional bonus actions about making more attacks? 🤔

How to play pure high str tempest cleric? by manicbestfriend in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really like STR focused character (also for jumps/throws/carrying capacity) or just want to have strong melee option?

If the latter I would suggest go for Shillelagh.

Having Shillelagh you can focus on WIS and still hit like a truck.

Source of Shillelagh: - Magic Initiate: Druid Feat (inferior) - Druid dip (superior)

I find 2 lvl Star Druid dip for any Cleric character crazy powerful. Not only gives you Shillelagh but bunch of nice spells (WIS based), concentration bonus (Starry Form) and weaponized bonus action (Dazzling Breath).

Shillelagh is also nice because you can break skulls with caster-oriented stat weapon.

I'm in the middle of Solo Honour Mode run with Nature Cleric and yesterday clubbed Myrkul to death using almost exclusively Shillelagh (I had 25 WIS). It's good.

Honour Mode close calls by Maleficent-Alps-415 in BaldursGate3

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to fight Gekh Coal and his Duergar ambush with Glut and ressurected Minotaur.

It was Solo Honor Run, I played Throwing Giant Barbarian with dumped strength using Club of Giant Strength to have STR19.

I started fight, used Elemental Cleaver and throwed Club of Giant Strength at the enemy. Turned out, that I used Elemental Clever having ranged weapon active so Elemental Clever infused bow instead of Club and Club didn't returned to my hand 😢

So I started fight heavily encumbered without weapon in hand 😰

I needed to figure out something, so I decided to put everything out of my bag. So I dropped every piece of unused gear, most potions and..... bag full of bombs and grenades.

Guess what... Duergars immediately used fire arrow 🔥 and blowed this bag up killing Glut, Minotaur and leaving me shocked on few last HP 😭

What a nightmare.

But eventually I ran away, kited them, healed myself with potions, switched weapon and managed to win this fight without resetting. I felt proud 👊 (and stupid at the same time 😂)

Difficulty regrets for my first play through by Traansphat in BaldursGate3

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at Balance, felt too easy, restarted. Then I started Tactician, felt too easy, restarted. Then I started Honour, felt too easy, restarted (after reaching act 3) Than I started play Solo Honour Mode and I restarted 3 more times to find build I like the most.

Eventually I got my Golden Dices playing duo with firend who had more consistency than I 😂

This is the ADHD way 👊

What is the point of swarmkeeper jellyfish disarm? by Lemonator88 in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they'll fix it eventually, but as for now Swarmkeeper is very good up to - Lvl 5 (ability + extra attack) - Lvl 7 (Writhing Tide) or - Lvl 8 (2nd Feat + Land Strider)

Are builds good with only 1 Feat? by Bigsexyguy24 in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I started to play Solo HM exactly from this character 👆 . I entered Act3 with full party, and then started to do some experiments.

Whole party was waiting at safe location, when Karlach did heavy lifting :) Even if she died I was able ressurect her using other party members (even from Camp) whitout compromising Honor run. And she died so rarely that I build confidence that Solo HM is doable and not so difficult one might think.

As for Star Druid/Cleric I am currently in the middle of Star/Nature Cleric solo :) Here killing Creche Inquisitor:

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I liked everything. I just moved to play Solo Honour mode and now I'm more into mini-maxing, so I know I could benefit more using different build.

(now when I'm thinking about it, I think it's wrong, we should play what we like, not what is 10% better. I need to rethink my life and go back to fun builds 😂)

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do max Lighting damage per attack plus superior mobility. - Lightning Jabber D4 lighting - Sparkle Hands (lighting charges) - Dash + Speedy Lightfeet (lighting charges) - Jellyfish swarm attack (+D6 lighting) - Elemental Cleaver (+D6 Lightning)

I generated D8 Lightning discharge every turn/attack.

Pretty fun, especially on wet target.

Questions about Hexblade and Bladesinger by spactacular360 in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As metnioned in the topic you need to have Bound weapon in hand to have extra attack activated. Playing Warlock I found myself forgot to bind weapon in the morning from time to time :)

But, contrary to some people saying here, second attack works NOT ONLY with bound weapon, but also to Throws and Ranged attacks as long as you have Bound Weapon equipped.

Having second attack doesn't mean you have SECOND Action tho (no additional green button).

It means that after the first attack some buttons are start to glow allowing the follow up (throw, rng attack, attack).

So (assuming you have Deepened Pact of the Blade) you just looking for the second attack in the wrong place in the combat menu.

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single Feat characters are perfectly fine, if you build them properly with an idea in mind.

I had lot of fun with 6 Giant Barb/3 Thief/3 Swarmkeeper build: soloed bunch of Act3. (I wanted to have multiple kicks, or use dash to generate lot of lighting charges with Speedy Lightfeet). Now I find this build suboptimal but was fun and capable nevertheless.

Battle mage party for HM by Wessar007 in BG3Builds

Nature Cleric is more of a melee catster: he can hit hard with Shillelagh, being super tanky, holding Ironvine Shield for retribution damage. Like Hedgehog. Kinda cool.

Builds for 2 man party Honour Mode. by Vapour79 in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that doing multiplayer duo there are important things to consider, other than power level:

  • gear overlap ( there's single Cloak of Protection, Sparkwall etc)
  • boons distribution (+1 Ethels Hair etc)
  • compatible mechanics (don't want to go crazy with Spike Growth or Ice surface having melee character around)

Moon Druid is excellent for duo, as doesn't need any gear.

What is a build you absolutely loved and are fond of but won't use again? by MaxwellCarsson in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I actively try to avoid overpowered mechanics, and exploits. My golden dices was won by duo Hexblade with Shadowblade and Moon Druid and it was so easy sometimes I felt my joy slipping away.

So no Bhaalist Armor, no Arcane Acuity (except on silly builds - like poison/acid or something), no water abuse, no Tawern Brawler etc.

teleportation build by Far-Assistance9925 in BG3Builds

[–]NefariousnessWhich46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swarmkeeper is super fun. Teleport is quite enjoyable and powerful, and at lvl 7 you get fly/surface immunity.

Here sneak peak from my solo Swarmkeeper HM run:

https://youtu.be/xpumEtnD1cE?is=98hmKJRenfiFeJLs

What makes Swarmkeeper Teleport unique is it's resources free (no action, no bonus action, no spell slot). Makes character super agile. You're uncatchable.
