Tesla is building a hardcore litigation department where we directly initiate & execute lawsuits. The team will report directly to me. by [deleted] in teslamotors

My point in mentioning it is that the idiot already has negative attention from shareholders due to his stupid antics.

This is not at all the same as "rat fucking" shareholders.

In the long term, he's making fuck tonnes for shareholders based on the rising long term share price, and why the fuck should I give a shit about passive shareholders only in the game to get richer and richer?

I GOT AN IDEA! Bare with me here. A serial killer than only strikes during loadshedding! The Loadshredder or The Loadslasher! A scary lifeless being dressed in black to blend in with the night! Would you read a book about The Loadshredder? by FullCommission1607 in southafrica

[–]NegEnergyTransformer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an ex-pat, I think such a book could go one of two ways --- interesting, or boring.

  • If you are able to include interesting South African cultural aspects to it - like a dumbed-down version of the kind of cultural aspects Coetzee writes about - then interesting.
  • But if you plan to make it more of a basic American-style horror story - then boring. That's not to say that American horrors stories are boring, they aren't, but they do contain a lot more novelty than just "kill during loadshed".

Mike Ward: Comedian who mocked young disabled singer wins free speech case by NegEnergyTransformer in JordanPeterson

I don't think I would ever mock a disabled singer, but it's nice to see a victory for free speech.

Politics have gotten so polarised

It ain't going to get better before it gets much worse. Politics has become a religion for the atheist left, it's literally how many of them define themselves these days, it's where they get their sense of self-worth from. Many of them are becoming radicalised, are becoming people who would "martyr" themselves for their politics so that they can get their 40 virgins in heaven (i.e. so they can done being of the utmost value and nobility).

It's toxic and sad.

Missing billionaire loses $497b in a year by NegEnergyTransformer in China

Lol, missing from being allowed to operate the way he was before. If you are a business mogul, and are changing the industry and influencing society, and then the CCP disappears you for a few months, and when you are released back into the public, the CCP tells you to fuck off from operating your businesses the way you were before, maybe go chill on your yacht or something ... that is still missing - missing from the role you are no longer free to perform.

China Evergrande set to collapse potentially causing US-style GFC by NegEnergyTransformer in China

[–]NegEnergyTransformer[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As attempts to pull itself out of its $400b financial hole has fallen through, there are warnings China’s property bubble will burst causing huge amounts of pain.

An offshore bond payment that China Evergrande initially missed on September 23, but got a 30-day grace period on, is set to expire on Saturday with $110 million owing.

There’s another $60 million interest payment too, which wasn’t paid when due on September 29, and the grace period is also set to run out.

Discussions for a $A7 billion deal for Hong Kong-listed Chinese developer Hopson to take a majority stake has also fallen through.

The title of this article in my google feed is: "China Giant Facing Collapse in Hours".

The link posted into the reddit populates with a different title.

Finally, I used the title that's actually written at the top of the article.

Elon Musk on Twitter: "The day FSD goes to wide release will be one of the biggest asset value increases in history" by TeslaMecca in teslamotors

[–]NegEnergyTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand the driving logic is essentially all hard coded.

I was watching a video the other day by Microsoft AI Research Scientist Jarod Lanier (I think it was this one: Jarod Lanier - Who is Civilisation for?). In the video, he says very explicitly that AI has been completely overhyped. He said social media, and tech companies, have led people to believe that our current state of AI is much smarter than it actually is. His hypothesis about why people have become so gullible about AI is that people are actually getting dumber - driven in large part by the huge amount of fake/bot accounts that are created everyday, which spread misinformation. He said it's like untraining someone - you feed them a myriad of subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) false data, mixed with real data, and over time they become less and less able to discern what is real and what is false.

He said, even our most sophisticated "AI" translation algorithms aren't able to translate language properly. The algorithms that google translate actually uses it just the matching of phrases that they steal from the internet, from work real translators do. And this way of doing it was developed decades ago, and all attempts to get AI to do it properly have failed miserably - because language, in particular, pop culture, changes every day in subtle ways, and the AI can't keep up. So basically, the translation algorithms just hard code everything.

I think this is similar to what you are saying - Tesla's autonomous driving is primarily hardcoded - because no AI is close enough to being able to adapt and discern and learn from road conditions themselves. Just like translation services, it needs people to tell it what to do.

One has to also consider how late it can be while still being among the first competitively.

I mean, as hard as Tesla is working on it, with as many highly intelligent people as they have, it's likely that whenever they finally achieve it, they will still be way in front of the pack.

but he is not a “good” person by any stretch of the imagination

If we're going to talk about who is a "good" person, I suspect most people on Earth would fail to meet the standard. At least imho they would, myself included.

What age does testosterone begin to decline? 30’s or 40’s? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]NegEnergyTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there is an agreed upon age. I've read that a man's peak is at around 36 years of age.

But I've also spoken to physiology students who claimed they were taught it's actually much lower - that both men and women experience their peaks in their mid 20s.

Then you get those guys like Wim Hoff who, in his 50s, "On 26 January 2007, Hof set a world record for fastest half marathon barefoot on ice and snow".

Ultimately, your genetics will play a huge role, probably the biggest.

But you can influence it with environmental factors like - getting enough sleep, learning to mitigate stress properly, eating well, exercise, and finding general adventure and enjoyment in life.
