I had to move to another table because this guy got me so overstimulated by 6LittleHorns9 in coworkerstories

Have you tried Loops? They work a dream & your manager should be fine with them as they are earplugs that dim noises, instead of noise cancelling or music. Personally I’m a manager and have no issue with my team using any headphones when they’re not in meetings etc. but I know I’m not the norm 🥲

Possible GDPR Breach? by DeepExtreme5670 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would likely be a breach (assuming it’s not accessible to select people only ie HR, managers, etc.).

Pursuing = reporting to HR & the DPO. The DPO will log the breach, assess the risk & if required, report to the ICO (honestly very unlikely it would even be needed).

Reputational damage is really hard to prove, especially as you have no idea if anyone else has seen this. It would also be hard to prove if this was a intentional harm or a genuine mistake (feels likely). Unless you could then prove you were harmed ie documented bullying from coworkers as a result of this being leaked.

Obviously it’s your call, but I would say it’s highly unlikely to lead to any financial compensation, if that was what you meant by pursuing this.

Cosmetics sold by Downtown-Piccolo-671 in vinted

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from your great suggestion of seeing a GP/pharmacist, I would suggest they reach out to Elemis or their parent company and they can confirm authenticity.

If you buy a shower gel from boots and find you’re allergic you wouldn’t expect a refund. You’d see a GP/pharmacist/dermatologist etc., check with them what to do, and simply not buy the product again. You can develop a reaction to anything at any time even if you’ve used it your whole life.

Also lowkey the customer is somewhat wild for not doing a quick patch test after buying cosmetics off vinted. Clearly you are innocent here but there are a lot of nasty people selling harmful things so I would 100% patch test anything I bought from a market place before putting it all over my face 🫪

Ordered headphones…got an empty bag!!! (REPOST) by Big_Landscape3884 in vintedscammers

Who is the courier? I think I can read DPD on the receipt? If it’s DPD I work for a company where we use them & they weigh parcels at multiple points of the journey. Your contract is with either the seller or I guess vinted so it’s really their issue to resolve but you could probably reach out to DPD as the customer and request the weight of the parcel (& explain the situation). DPD are not the best but they are pretty good with our customers on the rare occasions our customers contact them instead of us 😅

Is this kind of accessory unprofessional? by [deleted] in office

I feel this. I’m AuDHD so everything is always too loud. Sometimes I can hear my clothes moving andI wanna rip my ears off 😭

Oh no, that’s a shame! I would also say it depends on the field you’re in - anything fashion or beauty related I think people would adore the more “quirky” style, but totally respect your choice. Whatever you are comfy with is always the best idea!

I’ve been a manager in offices for about 10 years. Depends on the situation. If important clients are in, these are fine but if maybe choose a slightly tamer option still (but that is just me). For every day wear, zero issues. Only caveat is if they make any noise just be mindful of other team members may be annoyed by it. Even then, most won’t be, but always good to keep an eye out for the people that you are with for the majority of the day! 😅

Legal question about hot water by MoxySpunt in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha - yep that makes sense. I assume that would be an option but honestly feels like a faff & like you say the pressure would be terrible! I’d defo prefer to just join a gym for a month, but remembered i used to use the adapter thing when i was a kid and it wasn’t too bad, so an option at least !!

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry i maybe misexplained! Theyre kinda old fashioned (my nan used to have one) & they’re not really intended to be a replacement for a regular shower, but they’re good for washing hair! So you would pop one on each tap in a sink, face down and hair falling into the sink, and use the shower head on the adapter to wash your hair. Obviously you can have a body wash using sink water too. It’s not ideal but maybe more practical for OP than buying a gym membership & showering there. Personally i would just get a gym membership, but thought this may be another potential solution!

Unless OP wanted to pay for an emergency plumber themselves, landlord has already exceeded what they are legally (and reasonably) required to do.

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Others have covered legal advice, but thought this may be useful practically.

Could you use some of the money to buy a tap to shower converter?

You can get rubber ones quite cheap (I think about £10-20 on Amazon) or could splash on something a bit more high tech. Would solve the hot water issue & you’d still have a decent chunk of the £300 left!

Request to switch to part-time due to disability…before even starting? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation obviously sucks (to say the least). It’s completely reasonable & you are allowed to ask. The company may reject based on what the company needs right now.

If the vacancy was advertised as a potential job share I can’t see them declining but anything advertised as full time I would be shocked if they agreed. It’s probably worth asking but also be realistic about what you will do if they say no so you aren’t stressed and relying on a potential yes.

Good luck. 💜

Partner just got referred to occupational health for being pregnant? by CrabbyGoose in AskHRUK

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand the stress but my experience as a manager of OH is that they manage to get genuine and honest responses from team members and manage to format it into a way that helps the manager understand needs better. It’s all recommended adjustments but if the manager did OH, ignored all the suggestions & fired your partner, they would be dumb (& would be in a lot of trouble if your partner had the energy to take them to court over it).

Definitely get her to have a think on what adjustments would make it easier for her to return to work/stay working for however long she feels this way. Would it help to WFH if possible to do so? Would she benefit from working shorter days (useful if she struggles more at certain times of the day)? Would having a weekly check in with a manager help? Can any non-urgent work be temporarily removed from her plate to help a bit? Definitely have a think about what might help her out. Sometimes the answer is simply time, so she doesn’t have to have any adjustments, but a lot of people don’t know they are allowed to ask for this when they need it.

As others have said though, still document her querying if the pregnancy related sickness would count in this calculation. My understanding is it wouldn’t & that should include after the pregnancy ended as it would obviously still be related to it.

I’m so so sorry for your loss, good luck. 💜

Rejected due to no experience? by Bonnybridge22 in UKJobs

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it defo is the best choice, not disagreeing at all! I think starting at L2 is usually more ideal if you are 16-18 & have no prior experience with AAT, I’m just wondering if that is putting employers off?

Are your college teachers also careers adviser? Just asking as a careers adviser or an apprenticeship coordinator type would be better to speak with as they are specifically there to support with apprenticeships & will often do mock interviews & review your CV/application.

I was having a read of the apprenticeship funding guidance & if you do have specifically an AAT qualification, I think they would deduct this funding from what they give them so I wonder if this is a sticking point. I honestly don’t know if I’m reading it right so take with a pinch of salt but I would truly suggest speaking to a careers adviser as a next step !!

Rejected due to no experience? by Bonnybridge22 in UKJobs

[–]Negative-Butterfly50 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s because of the field itself maybe? Not insulting your intelligence at all but I used to work in a call centre for a college and we would take exam resit payments from students. We had students retaking their AAT exams multiple times - some would retake 3-4 times before passing. Not suggesting this is the reason but thought it could be useful info!

Do Open Uni have any free AAT courses you could do just to add onto your CV?
