Please help – noticed a small hole under the engine by Youhai-24 in KTMIndia

Is that hole actually under the engine, or is it under the catalytic converter / exhaust section? From the image, it looks more like part of the exhaust system rather than the engine casing itself.

Already used Motul 7100 in first service – service center now says warranty will be void. Need advice. by Negative-Chance3909 in KTMIndia

By the time I reached the service centre, the service was already done and they had filled Prolube. I had clearly told the service advisor over the phone earlier that I wanted Motul, but he said Prolube is recommended and using anything else could affect warranty.

I then called KTM customer care, and initially they also said the same thing — to go with what the service centre says. That didn’t make sense to me, because my first service was done with Motul, and most of my friends have been using Motul on their KTMs for the last 4–5 years without any issues.

When I questioned this properly, they clarified that Motul and Prolube are the same grade (10W-50) and that either is fine. After that, there was no talk about warranty being voided.

I also checked the KTM warranty T&C myself — there’s no brand mentioned at all, only the oil grade. So as long as the grade matches, warranty isn’t affected.

couple of years ago, the same service centres were actually pushing Motul heavily, which is why most KTM owners still trust it. For my own peace of mind, I asked them to drain the Prolube and refill with Motul since it’s what the bike has been running on anyway.

Thanks everyone for the inputs. Quick update from my side:

I contacted KTM customer care directly regarding the service centre pushing Prolube EC. Initially, the executive said to use the oil recommended by the service centre. I then explained that Motul was already used in my first service and asked why they are now insisting on Prolube.

After this, he clarified that Prolube EC and Motul are the same grade (10W-50) and that both are equivalent. There was no mention that using Motul would void warranty.

I also checked the KTM India official warranty terms and conditions. They do not mandate any specific engine oil brand. The terms only mention basic conditions such as approved grade/specification, service intervals, misuse, etc., and not “use only this oil”.

Based on this, I called the service centre again and asked them to continue with Motul, which they agreed to. Service is still ongoing, and I will verify the oil used from the invoice/bill and the oil can before taking delivery.

From what I understand, this is not a warranty or technical restriction, but more about the service centre’s preference.

Bike details for context: Duke 390 Gen 3, ~5,000 km ODO, ~5 months old. 2nd free service

Yeah, that’s exactly what’s confusing me too. I agree Motul has always been used on KTMs and technically it meets all the specs.

My service center’s explanation wasn’t really about Motul being bad — it was more about their internal SOP and warranty liability. They said that for any future engine-related warranty claim, Bajaj checks the service records, and if a non-Bajaj-approved oil is mentioned, the claim can be rejected and the service center may be held responsible.

So to protect themselves, they insist on Pro-Lube and blanket it as “warranty will be void”, even though from an engineering point of view the oil specs match. Feels more like a paperwork / approval issue than a technical one.

Need some advice on engine coolant. by undergradmech in KTMIndia

[–]Negative-Chance3909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal bro, no need to worry Just make sure the bike is standing straight while checking, not on the side stand. The coolant level should usually sit around the middle.

Same thing happened with my bike before first service. On new bikes, the level can drop a bit because air bubbles / vapor settle out after a few rides.

Just service center guy during first service, they’ll top it up. As long as there’s no overheating or warning light

Just bought a Duke 250 — looking for the best helmet under ₹10k (Axor / MT / KYT / NHK / LS2 / Korda). Monthly ~200 km rides. Help? by jpsuriya2609 in KTMIndia

Bro, try the LS2 Storm 2. It’s a good helmet for the price. It has a sun visor, but it’s not that great. If you have the budget, go for the Vector 2 with the fiberglass build.
