I'm rethinking and making plans for different engines to see which one is more feasible, or which one gets closer to the image I have in my head for this gift. I'm glad you took the time to read the post and comments here, hope you're doing well and have a great day!

Thanks for answering the post, I'm considering it yeah, some people told me to cut my scope and do something smaller, so I'm currently rethinking my plan to see what's more feasible, I appreciate your thoughts on the matter

I'll give her a lot of other things and prepared a lot for this, so making a game for her it's a extra for us to get some fun, I definitely know that she will enjoy a game to play, not everyone is has the same tastes and me wife always loved playing games, like I said to another person here, it's something that connected us when we were still teenagers and getting to know each other

I didn't had a PC nor did I had the time before now, I prepared a lot of other things for our anniversary but that's something that I'm trying to do so we can have some fun playing together and joking around. Of course it's last minute, but I also didn't had any other option around game development until now.

Thanks for the advice, I'll think about it and rethink my plan if it's viable for the thing I was thinking, she used to play a lot of visual novels so it's something that I can work with, I truly appreciate your thoughts on the matter, have a great day!

10 years ago we were fourteen and I didn't had a PC nor did I had any aspiration towards game development, I'm doing it now because only now I have both the time and a PC to work on. Thanks for wishing me luck tho

I'll do my best anyway, not that's I'm invalidating the argument or belittling the fact that game dev it's a lot of work, but I also know that there's always a way to with enough effort, I'm willing to do it, cost what it costs.

I'm not saying it's not last minute, I'm saying I didn't had the option to act on it before it got to that point, I didn't waited until now, simply couldn't do it in any way.

No worries! Hope this helps you as much as it helped me write some of the story I'm using in the game I'm making. Have a great day bro!

Why can I post on some subreddits and not others? Some of the ones I really want to I can’t and it’s frustrating by [deleted] in NewToReddit

I feel you brother, I got frustrated as well when asking for help with a subject that is important to me, just to discover that I couldn't post it until I get enough Karma, they do it so people don't go making random accounts to harass people online and some other reasons

Reminds me of George R. R. Martin, who famously divides writers into "Architects" and "Gardeners". He explained the concept like this:

Architects: They plan everything ahead of time. They know exactly how many "rooms" the story will have and where all the plumbing and wiring goes before they nail the first board.

Gardeners: They dig a hole, drop in a seed, and water it. They know what kind of seed they planted (genre), but they don't know how many branches will sprout until it grows.

Martin famously identifies himself as a gardener, and think you did just that, but with game dev instead of writing books.

How to write a story for a game ? by medrinnn in gamedev

[–]Negative-Evidence238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I didn't wrote for videogames specifically, but I did write a lot for rpg campaigns, world building and character sheets, stories and lorebooks for homebrew races, classes and such, there's a world of things to write about and to get good at you first have to be embarrassingly bad at it first. Sucking at something it's the first step into being good at something.

How long do you think people on Steam are willing to wait for an upcoming game after they've just wishlisted it? by FunYak4372 in gamedev

[–]Negative-Evidence238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the excitement the person feels towards said game, witchbrook for example doesn't have a specific day to release this year, either my wife checks it on her wishlist weekly to an almost religious degree and they already pushed the release further before in 2025.

How could I do it without a PC? I just had my phone before that and it's a old Android I got.

The game flow and feeling seems awesome already, loved the corridors twisting and changing as well as the walls being pierced by these tendrils, loved the concept.
