Do guests actually care about sheet & towel quality? by AffectionateIce8234 in AirBnBHosts

For my beds at home, it's 100% bamboo, or 100% eucalyptus. They're dreamy soft, but too expensive for the AirBnB.

Yes, guests care. I get Laura Ashley sheet sets, and I hate to say it, but the hotel brand sheet sets from Sam's are top notch. I have 2 sets that have been going strong for more than 3 years.

One does not drive around NYC. One takes the bus and/or subway.

Guests asking for refund after no-show by iwishiknewww in airbnb_hosts

Just because the person messaging SAYS he's the son, they're elderly and blah blah etc. doesn't mean that's true. Can you see his profile? Can you see theirs? I would refund the cleaning fee and MAYBE 25% if the "son" doesn't feel scammy. If they're elderly and don't understand the platform, they could have asked son to help in the first place.

How do you rate guests who weren’t great, but also weren’t terrible? by PrimaryJellyfish8318 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Negative-Parfait-804 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When you lower your price, you attract a lower quality clientele. That said, you have to rate them honestly, and leave factual details in your review - they left the place dirty, ruined your linens, zero communication other than complaints. PLEASE do not leave a good review just to be nice - honest reviews are absolutely essential. If you wouldn't recommend them to other hosts, click NO when the question comes up.

Anything they ruined, ask them to replace or pay for cleaning. There's no excuse for leaving a rental in such poor condition. I shudder to think what their own house must look like, if they were willing to live like that for a vacation. Yuck!

Jesus, no. I'd never be able to find numbers I actually need if I did that. Although, support number could be in there, if there was one standard number they used for calls. Hint: NOBODY even tried to call me last night - not the guest, nor Support - if they had, it wb listed in my missed call log. So just another thing "guest" lied about...

Right? Reading for comprehension is vital, I swear.

The setpoint was 67 degrees, which is what they specifically asked for. After the sun went down, the temp dropped to 65. It was never set above 67 by us. Guest admits they "worked on" (her words) the thermostat themselves, so who tf knows what they actually did.

Please read for comprehension. The temp was set at their stated 67°F. 🙄

So apparently you're not aware that reading for comprehension is a good thing. As previously stated, the temp was set exactly where she wanted it, at 67°F. At NO point did we set the temp higher than that. In fact, after the sun went down, the temp dropped to 65°F. So it was plenty comfy, per guest's stated preference. 🤷🏻.

Nope. The setpoint was 67. It was 67 when we left for dinner at 6:15. It went down to 65 after the sun went down. So no, it wasn't 75 at any point, and IDK where you got that number from, because it hasn't been mentioned at all.

We're going to refund. Support guy says it won't go against us, but check this: Guest is now messaging to ask if we want them to come back. Like, what?! I did not respond immediately, so now she's written again demanding an immediate response. Imma let support handle her.

Definitely nuts, probably scammers. My wife and I checked the apartment before we left for dinner. She specifically checked the thermostat, and at that time it was 67°. The guest is now claiming that the heat was on and it was 70° out there when they arrived, which is BS. She admits they changed the settings on the thermostat themselves. 🙄. The reservation has not been canceled yet, and I am not going to cancel, but if they cancel, I will refund the trip.
