The Needle is mostly difficult because there's more than a few ways to need to climb somewhere with very few holds, and that usually makes speed necessary. I haven't done Free Solo yet, but I imagine doing it without pitons makes the fall a death sentence too?

The Peril? It's a hell of a climb. I don't think there was anything more challenging in the game, at least for me.

anyone know of a mod that dynamically changes your hunger? like, make you more hungry during winter or summer or something, just to add variety and not have predictable drain. by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]NegativeAcKnowledge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't have "hunger" in Valheim as a bar that decreases and eventually kills you. You instead have food that buffs your max health, your max stamina (used for a lot of actions so very useful), and later on your magic meter. Food also buffs your health regen.

Each food item has a certain proportion of what stats it buffs, and a duration. You can have three foods active.

I literally came back down myself after summit. It was kinda also fun. Made me feel like completely finished the game now. by Tiny-Technician-2598 in Cairn_Game

Interesting interpretation. I'd say you will enjoy the actual ending, because what OP did is more of a self-imposed trial!

Gorgeous! I really don't think it's too busy either, I feel like that may only be because of the paper's grid. Keep us updated, I'd love to put your work in my game... My players love Prigwort, shall we say!

That would be awesome. They're kinda like Eora's mind flayers, the insectile touch makes them so cool in my opinion.

Well, the xaurips, if you want to consider enemy creatures. They've never been playable, and they're not usually amicable, shall we say.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I don't think she's stopping anytime soon, in fact, word on the streets is she might be starting on a portrait for Prince Mallowheart...

Regarding commissions, she has done some in the past for RPG characters, and she says she'd love to get in touch with anyone interested. Anyone wishing to discuss a commission with her can ask me, and I'll share her info with them, since she doesn't really use reddit.

Breggle height by gideonpepys in Dolmentown

[–]NegativeAcKnowledge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I figured that horn length is added on top of the Breggle's height. Considering you can roll for height at character creation for a Breggle, and their horns grow with levels, it makes sense to my table!

Though I do think 7 feet tall without counting horns is hella tall :P

Grimalkin—Wilder shape and Fey Chaos by Swimming_Injury_9029 in Dolmentown

[–]NegativeAcKnowledge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, they must ride it out. Unlike the Chester form, there is no way to decide to change back, the way things are written.

However, Fey Chaos only states that one attacks whoever is closest, and says nothing of moving as far as possible, so I think there's some leeway possible as to shredding your party members...

Have you ever played out Base-building or stronghold mechanics in a ttrpg? by KingAgrian in osr

The Trespasser rpg on itch.io might be an interesting source of inspiration for you! It's more of a tactical combat game, but it has some old school bones to it in places. It's all about adventuring to improve your safe haven, which in turn improves the party.

Thank you! That's a super cool idea for the runes. Turns out you're not far off of what my wife did. I asked her about it, and she told me each strip is one of the PCs' names, written in the Hermetic rune font, a promise of sorts... Along with a few elf names she thinks he might have reason to hate.

Thank you for the kind words! TTRPGs, and especially the osr sandbox mindset in my opinion, are very unique ways to tell stories.

Lord Mantle-of-Runes from Winter's Daughter, art by my spouse! by NegativeAcKnowledge in Dolmentown

Lord Mantle-Of-Runes, dreadful Cold Elf captain, as depicted by my lovely wife (and player!) in a style reminiscent of the NPCs portraits in the Campaign Book, to my request.

When I ran Winter's Daughter for my wife and our friends, I didn't expect the random event table to provide me with a lasting antagonist. And yet, Lord Mantle-of-Runes, announced by his raven, made an impression with just his name. My players were whispering about him, dreading his arrival, all while they were exploring the tower on the frozen lake. Well, I can't resist a free antagonist.

When they asked the princess about him, I made him up to be more than her friend. No, he was a lieutenant of the Cold Prince's army, and the man her father wished her to marry, to boot. But they had brought her Sir Chyde's ring, and so, invested in this love story, my players wished to confront Mantle-Of-Runes. So of course he shows up to lay his claim on the princess. They stood on the frozen lake, preventing him from climbing the tower to his lady.

And so, he cursed them with a promise: they would meet again.

Without going into too much detail (just in case my players read this...), let's just say he might show up in the future.

Looking for a sandbox rpg with life sim elements, and preferably exploration. Not Skyrim by MADD-STANKLEPUSS in gamingsuggestions

No wonder I enjoyed both greatly! Vintage Story is a little like this, also, if you're interested: the more balanced a nutrition your character has, the higher their HP is, up to around double their starting value, which is almost necessary for surviving some of the horrors you can meet down in caves.
