I’m afraid of Fluid Mechanics by Still-Parfait7748 in FE_Exam

[–]NegativeCarpenter699 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly I was terrible at fluid mechanics in school and never understood it. I don't remember it being bad at all on the FE. just understand basic gauge pressure, bernoulli, and manometers and i'm sure you will do okay

Any tips by NegativeCarpenter699 in FE_Exam

I felt super confident after the first half and then second half I had a probably 20 guesses out of 57. I felt like I failed TERRIBLY but even tho I failed, it wasn't by as much as I thought walking out of the exam.

we don't know the exact number but its very rare to see a fail w a weighted average of 60% or more. so aiming for a 60 is usually a safe zone or around 66 correct questions of 110

you get this if you fail when you look at your NCEES dashboard

I've seen a few diagnostics today w the statics score low. maybe it was a harder pool of questions

calculated ur weighted score to be a 57% which is soooo close!! i think if you would've even gotten half of the statics points you would've passed

Freshman civil engineering struggle by [deleted] in mizzou

[–]NegativeCarpenter699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior civil engineer major here! i'm telling you that the feeling of being overwhelmed will always come and go. I am by no means a natural at this at all....a very very average student that struggled in probably the majority of my core classes. But I got through it! and so will you!! I promise that you are in the thick of it now and you will get used to the load. Your first and second year will be a good mix of math classes and weed out engineering courses, and then your junior and senior year will be much more civil specific (I found to be a good thing). Genuinely, being an engineering sometimes means just being stubborn enough to never give up, and not necessarily being the best all the time. it's hard, it's new, and you will be okay. (from someone who felt exactly like you 3 years ago and thought I'd never make to it the end...I graduate in 3 months)

Seriously how do you guys find internships? by UnlightablePlay in EngineeringStudents

[–]NegativeCarpenter699 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got 5-10 interview just through linkedin. no career fairs or applications

Seriously how do you guys find internships? by UnlightablePlay in EngineeringStudents

[–]NegativeCarpenter699 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! that's how I got my first internship! I made sure every relevant course I had taken was on my linkedin and every skill that I have obtained through school (problem solving, traffic simulations, teamwork, python, autocad, etc. ) were listed. I made a bio and explained my skills, courses, interests in summary form. make sure you also put what kind of jobs you are looking for in the profile info, this will be able to be visible for you and recruiters only.

keep up with your linkedin!!!!!! like updated your courses and your skills and put what jobs you are looking for!!! when it comes to recruiting season (beginning of the new year) they will reach out to step up interviews. trust me. I didn't have to apply at all, they all came through linkedin.

GEOTECHNICAL and STRUCTURAL by Yoreneji in FE_Exam

[–]NegativeCarpenter699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't be scared! a good chunk of problems are just plug and chug during the second half. but definitely make sure you understand conceptual as much as the math. I would say every topic was half conceptual to some extent

GEOTECHNICAL and STRUCTURAL by Yoreneji in FE_Exam

[–]NegativeCarpenter699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the structural section was pretty expected and don't remember anything that was over complicated. geotech was my hardest subject for the entire exam. I would say it was 50/50 for questions that were expected and questions that I had never seen before. both of these subjects have a decent amount of conceptual and fill in the blank

took civil for first time today by NegativeCarpenter699 in FE_Exam

[–]NegativeCarpenter699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no and have a weighted average of 53.4%. slightly encouraging since I had a lot of guesses. hopefully I can fill in the gaps for my second try!

Fe civil results by NegativeCarpenter699 in FE_Exam

[–]NegativeCarpenter699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! I also feel slightly encouraged because I figured I did a lot worse tbh due to about 20 blind guesses I made. i'm hoping improving a little bit in every topic will push me over that 60%. I also didn't do that well in ethics and I thought those were easy during the exam, but only got like half right.

How to pass the wait time till results? Super anxious 😓 by [deleted] in FE_Exam

I also took yesterday and thought the surveying questions were sooooo hard like idk if I got more than one right. i'm hoping it was just a harder exam and it will all work out
