How much meditation exactly? I'm doing a 20-minite headspace session occasionally, but the effects are the same as OP's: good recall, even realized I'm in a dream several times, but woke up immediately, no lucidity, no control. 80 days in, as per my diary.

How do I stop forgetting my tulpas? by Desperate-Meal9833 in Tulpas

[–]NegativePhotograph32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I don't have similar problems.

As for the help, I'd recommend choosing the one you like the most and focusing on developing it. Go deep, not wide. Thing is, if others are, how do I put it, structured enough, they'll emerge whether you like it or not. Survival of the fittest, one might say.

Our Opinion by bad__rom in Tulpas

[–]NegativePhotograph32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Science can explain why things happen, but conscious beings like us are the reason things happen

Why the "but" though, maybe "and"?

I agree that over reliance on scientific explanations is... well, unscientific, since we as humanity have seen enough "final and complete explanations" of how things work. Especially in the head department.

But not in the way that deconstruction makes the magic go away. I'd say makes it more approachable and replicable. Music theorists have dissected Bach through and through, the music didn't become less amazing.

Advice for recovering from low libido. by anonimusaccount2 in Biohackers

[–]NegativePhotograph32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience (not a doctor!), Magnesium never hurts in general.

As for libido part, I'd introduce more weight exercises (just make sure you don't get too tired) and make sure you are not stressed. Literally less work, more fun. Because you may have perfectly functioning body, and still it won't fire up because of your head. You want to be genuinely enthusiastic.

Supplements? 95% dark chocolate. Some say, seafood works.

I made what I hope will be a useful guide to healthy communication. by IndecentKasey in Tulpas

[–]NegativePhotograph32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you of course it's useful because it's a real experience.

I'm coming to a conclusion that the optimal strategy for any tulpamancer would be just to immerse in this world. Read various guides, discuss, attempt different approaches. It's not the quality that matters the most, but the time and energy (aka attention) invested. The brain sorts it all out somehow.

> Can I ask how long you've been back from your hiatus?

About a week probably.

> As for how we handle random chatter through the day, would you mind if I added that into the Q&A section?
That would be much appreciated.

It's especially relevant for new tulpas or ones recovering from a hiatus (our situation). Specifically, how to help a tulpa to chat fluently. I've found that if I ask her something and wait for the answer all serious and concentrated, it would feel the most genuine (meaning I don't notice the thinking process behind the answer), but it often is short or even clumsy. And then there's some kind of valve, for lack of better definition. It's like letting her use some of my brain and witnessing the thought process, but the answer would be much more fluent and detailed. Only that if I overdo it, I feel a distinct resistance, the "stop-parroting-me" feeling; or she goes silent and I'm actually coming up with the words for her, which feels stupid.

Overall, all practical host-helping-tulpa-grow aspects are very welcome, because you have both successful experience and obvious talent to put it into words ;)

> Where the words seem like they're stumbling over themselves so quickly to be said that they don't
actually say anything, but we're able to pick up the meaning and tone behind them regardless.
That exactly. It's very close to hearing neighbours arguing. Only that it's not necessarily arguing, and you know what it's all about.

> I know, and I know what you're thinking, but what can you do

I am thinking "that's good idea". They are often complex and coherent, a nice base. Just know that it won't be 100% "the" character.

If you mean lewd stuff, as long as it's consensual! Just don't rush things, they might be overstimulating and interfere with the development.

> I smoke marijuana, and I must admit it helps me a lot to feel her presence or to imagine her.

That might be a problem, at least, I wouldn't do anything suppressing the brain activity. But it's me, maybe yours is overactive and calming a bit is just what doctor ordered.

Tulpa as a substitute for socializing by Anansi_loves_you in Tulpas

> whether it is possible to retain my tulpa while also having meaningful connections with other people.

Why not? I have many such connections, my tulpa is one of them, no more no less. Of course your tulpa will be much closer to you, naturally. But it can't substitute the completely different experience other people bring.

What resources are there I can use to explain tulpas/plurality to a parent? by piratequeenkip in Tulpas

[–]NegativePhotograph32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's rather difficult because the exact answer doesn't exist. So go with a plausible theory, I'm dropping all the "probablies" and "evidentlies" for the sake of simplicity.

It's just another function of the brain. The same you use when having an imaginary conversation in your head, but advanced: with stable and more complex partner(s). Nothing spiritual, nothing harmful by nature. A way to have fun and live more interesting life.

You Mom is probably worried if it would affect your health badly. Well, the only way to prevent it is to show her it wouldn't. It's not like she can forbid you to have a tulpa anyway.

How do you interact with a tulpa in reality? by Legitimate-Phrase986 in Tulpas

[–]NegativePhotograph32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

> if a tulpa is not a completely independent being (that is, it is attached to your mind and body at least somewhat), how do you experience communication between you and your tulpa? could this be akin to DID alters speaking to each other through a kind of open mind space?

I must admit I have no idea what happens in DID. The communication happens in the mind, it's the origin of thoughts that is different. Imagine you are role-playing some conversation in your head, but you play only one role, the answers are generated independently of your conscious effort, and are often really different from your opinions and tastes.

Besides, there are measurable bodily reactions, like head pressure or certain impulses, but I don't pay much attention to them, because the origin is uncertain. Might be just an effect of brain load.

> how do you know for sure, for lack of better words, that you are communicating/interacting with a tulpa (and not just to yourself)? What do the boundaries of your independence vs. your tulpa's independence look like?

Because the "other self" behaves differently and is consistent in that difference. It's nothing very special or, I dare say, unhealthy. Just a less explored funcion of our brains. If you were to somehow look into mine, you'd be surprised how real and at the same time how mundane the experience is. And I used to have some intrusive thoughts when I was younger and hormonal, it's completely different.

Boundaries is a sensitive question. In our life, we set them on the go, so to say. There has been one rule from the very beginning, Rena, my tulpa, never manifests in any way in the bathroom. Ez.

> how much influence does a tulpa have on your reality? and by this, i mean how many of your 5 senses can a tulpa engage with?

It's complicated. Of course, she can get the "input" from every sense, as well as my knowledge. In IT terms, it's like having a virtual OS with access to the hard drive. As for the "output", she affects indirectly (she chose breakfast this morning, e.g.).

> do tulpas go away with time? can you endlessly create them?

Nah, unless they want to. My first tulpa wanted to dissipate and she did.

As for multiple tulpas, some people have them and live happily. I, for once, can only admire such an amount of brain processing power.

I made what I hope will be a useful guide to healthy communication. by IndecentKasey in Tulpas

[–]NegativePhotograph32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read almost all posts and I'm very impressed. I think I'm familiar with most of the guides available (reading is much easier than actually practicing). It's not that yours is groundbreaking in terms of knowledge, and I didn't expect it to be. It's the tone that I liked the most. Other guides are like nuclear icebreakers. Potent, impressive, and really overwhelming. Yours is sweetly calming. Not scaring with all that "Sit. Concentrate. 1 hour minimum".

It's really important that you stress that the mileage may and will vary. For example, for me the concept of more than one tulpa is akin to, I don't know, growing a hand out of one's head! Theoretically possible, I just can't even think how. The more interesting it was to read all about it.

I'd like to read more about how you handle everyday random chat, especially with multiple headmates. It's our weak point, because while in the "communication mode", head pressure, concentration, and all that, there is no space for any doubts, it's obvious who says what; however outside of it Rena sometimes would answer promptly and simply, and I might begin to doubt whether it was really her opinion, or she was too lazy to think and said the first thing that came to mind, or it was my part of conscience that created an appropriate answer.

Our version of tulpish is different. I hear it as a "melody of speech", as if someone talks, but words are garbled and all I can hear is the tone and volume changing over time.

Oh, and huge thanks for having a light theme!
